Maybe answered, maybe not. How does one go around trying to find the right pirate corp to join? I have another toon waiting to hit losec soon so he can begin his pirate career ans was just wondering about that.

There's a thread here somewhere which tells you the main haunting grounds of some pirate corps.

Other than that, seeking out the Guristas Associates is a very good start to pirating. They run a pirate academy, and in the few engagements I've ever had with them they've all been very polite and friendly folks, aside from the fact that they'll still be trying to kill you.

There is no such thing as a pirate or a pirate corporation. They are all figments of our imagination.

Find an area. Move there. Start fighting the local pirates. Beat them once in a while so they notice you. Remember to act polite as they will often act as you do yourself. After having proven yourself to not be a complete nub, ask if they need another gun. After having been in the first pirate corp it gets a lot easier. There you just show killboard link and take it from there.

Most of the regular posters in this part of the forum can be described as professional, but pirates. I'm sure if you ask around you'll find the right fit. It's all a matter of due-diligence I guess.

First, you need to define "the right pirate corp." Here are some issues to consider:
  • How many corp members are active during your prime playing time?

  • What sort of "piracy" does the corp engage in? (E.g. gate camping, small gang roaming, hot dropping, lowsec/nullsec, war deccing, etc.)

  • To what extent are the corp members "griefers?"

  • What's their position on smack talk?

  • What's their policy on voice comms?

  • What's their stand on 1-v-1's?

  • Would they rather you got more kills at the expense of more losses, or no losses at the expense of fewer kills?

  • What sort of ships do they like to fly?

  • What sort of logistics backbone do they offer?

  • What reputation does the corp enjoy?

  • Do they have good FC's? How many?

  • How's their killboard? How's their forums?

Ask these questions of yourself, not only of the prospective pirate corps. There's no "right" or "wrong" position for most of these issues, just things to consider to see if a corp is a good match for you. Many pilots join a corp, then start noticing things they don't like about it (related to the issues above). Better to do your research up front so you can simply enjoy playing more later.

Define this 'Pirate' career you are looking for. As some people like to think that everyone who PVPs are a bunch of pirates.

We are pirates, we have almost 90% efficiency, we will honour ALL ransoms, 1V1s? well that depends on how much we want your modules...
We like to kill with minimum losses, piracy is about loot after all, we dont smack, we are a nice community and we are damned ruthless about who we kill and what ships they are in. Your pod is NOT safe in lowsec and we play for fun...

Any more questions?

This is another thing to watch out for when corp shopping. Not engaging when you don't think you have a chance at a win is perfectly legit, and I'd always be a bit skeptical of people who don't realize that.

Plus, "omg you didn't wanna fight me you coward!!11" makes terrible smacktalk (even cracking your mom jokes in local would be better).

Its entirely worth noting that a lot of 'pirates' are basically just straight up jerks. There are plenty of pirates who are decent enough guys too of course, but be seriously wary. I've seen guys get their faction BS ganked by their new pirate corp friends for lulz, and thats just... kinda pathetic but also just not ****ing cricket. Also, certain pirate corps are the anarchistic flipside to 0.0 rigid authority structures. Basically, childish lil douches who don't wanna help each other out. Sometimes calling for help when a solo situation escalates can just lead to you getting trolled a whole lot. Either one of these two things are to avoided at all costs. Basically people who value lulz over teamwork/a hard fight are not worth flying with, and sadly the pirate life attracts a lot of them.

Now thats not to say that ALL, or even a majority of pirates are like that. Plenty of pirate corps embrace the life while still being skilled and reasonably mature, but you may wanna take a trip out with your intended guys prior to joining up to get a feel for it.

Just be careful dude. Low sec is a dangerous place, and frankly it doesn't treat those blessed with a trusting nature too well.

Hmm, must have missed that fleet, the last one I had the pleasure of being in and Fcing part of we took 14 Battleships and 2 BC out, engaged a fleet of 14 BS + 4 logi and destroyed the fleet losing only 4 of our ships.

But I see your point, we do like to only attack a single frigate with our fleets. Oh, and snuff, isnt it you who are prepared to hotdrop on top of 3 BCs? Or am I mistaking you for someone even less competent?

Personally, Im thinking you are just buthurt becasue you couldnt spell 0din properly...

He is maybe buthurt because we can't get a decent fight out of you.

And I can totally understand you if don't want to fight us, even if you outnumber us with the double the dps and double the reps. Because: http://snuff-box.de/kb/?a=cc_detail&ctr_id=2
And after that you tell us we got falcons all over the place while we only have 1 member who actually owns a falcon. Good excuse tho

Either way, can't say you guys are efficiant (which one way or another you will notice in your loots)

Ive ran into you guys twice in the last 7 days, both times you've had the upper hand both in numbers and firepower but obvously your not confident in enough in your own ability to take us on. Cant say i blame you, my 25 man corporation is too hot for most. http://eve-kill.net/?a=top20 (**** im not number 1 anymore)
