I've heard tales of Dreads in WH and stories of 300mil/hr in a Sanctum (with unknown ship) and I'm wondering if there has been success using dreads in PvE. Now its true that you can die horribly doing it (lol hotdrop), but I'm sure someone has tried it.
Its true that a dread can't track anything, but something huginn or web bonused loki can probably help as well as kill the really small stuff.
So just how do dreads stack up? |

Thanatos is better, yes, the moros gets an extra 15% damage per level but at level 5 that's like having 75% extra damage per drone but you have 3x as many drones in a thanatos |

It's situational. I woulden't buy a dread solely for a PVE but if you have one for POS bashing, there are a couple of situations where one is useful. For example consider the final escalation of the Dread Guristas Fleet Staging Post.It a large and stationary target that puts out massive damage and has high hp. It is also not in a dead space area. On several occasions I dropped a Moros, hit siege, and WTFPWNed the station. But that is pretty much the limit to what I've used a dread in PVE for. For almost every other situation you are better off with a carrier or better yet, a super-carrier. |

What Culmen said. In certain very rough plexes with a station a dread would make 'em super quick, and they can be quite profitable. In every other case mobility and damage-reaching-the-target are way more limiting factors in isk/hour. |

If you happen to live in a c5 or c6 W-space, dreads are pretty awesome for sleeper farming. Not to mention the fact capital ships warped into combat site, radar or magnetometric will spawn up to 28 extra sleeper elite battleships (6 for first dread, 8 for next dread, 6 for first carrier ....)
Combine a small gang with the dread with some rapiers (web+paint) and carrier in triage mode for some good isk making. (~700 mil per site with current t3 salvage prices) |

top money for plexing in 5/5 upgraded systems is only viable in a supercarrier but also that they actually have the system to themselfs and are constantly scanning down plexes to hit while they respawn etc.
plexing in 0.0 in a quiet system is not somthing the average joe who wants to make alot from NPCing, can feasably do. ever.
so stop your pipe dreams |

Significantly more actually, with full escalation, at least in C6's. And yes, please, more of this in W-space. There's no sweeter sight on D-Scan then this. |
