Deep below the blooming system that is Orvolle is a stargate to the 0.0 sec system known to some as "the pit". The pit is an entry point to vibrant and copettitive drug smuggling route. This route which is used by the corp who frequent it, is a quick way of smuggling contraband drugs and booster between Stacmon and Orvolle. Loads of money is made off of the runners using this route because it allows them to play the drug market between 2 regions and circumvent any costumes officers that would confiscate any of the product.

One of the reasons PF-346 is called the pit is because much like a pit once you fall into it, you will find it very difficult to climb out again unless you know the area very well. Massive Warp disruption spheres pepper the system like Christmas lights. Members of the alliance Cry havok have several POS as well.

This thread is about your experiences in the pit and what your thoughts are on player controlled trade routes in null sec space.

About 2 weeks ago there was an Iteron V that had just jumped into the pit and was trying to warp to the other gate. It got stuck in the blue spheres and then got blown up. I went to loot it and it had 252 yellow clouds (the kind that sells for alot) and I looted some and managed to make it past the campers a few times and make a nice profit.

The Pit? I've never heard it called that before. I usually refer to it as "that solar system situated between 'Inescapable Peril' and 'Certain Death'"

Anyhow, I remember going there with my nub buddies back when I was a nub, they were in two cruisers and I was in a catalyst. We wanted to pvp, somehow I made it out, my friends didn't.

I went there again in a Celestis once, and did quite well till I got caught by the bubble trying to escape. Was my first time being pod killed in 0.0 too. Laughing

Those blue things are really nasty. I tried using warp core stabilizers thinking it would make me not get stuck. Unfortunately for me there was 2 right next to each other and I got stuck anyway.

Having a stealth Bomber is a dream in that system because when fleets unfamiliar with the are warp to a gate and all get clustered into the warp ball, you can just take them all out at once with a few bombs.

PF was the location of the first real gate camp I was involved in - y'now bubbles and all that stuff.

I was a member of Knights of Syndicate at that time (not what you would call a strong alliance) and some mates and I had formed a corp called "The Newb Patrol". We spent our time zooming around Syndicate looking for random stuff to kill and when we got our courage up heading off to attack our dread enemies Ronin - o7 Ronin. At the time Pod-U had just started dominating the main entrance to our part of Syndicate (TXW?) – I think Einherjar Rising (Cry Havoc to be) arrived in the area a few weeks later.

We were true nubs but we had some decent fits (thanks SHC) and been taught a bit about FC’ing (thanks Shme). We had a leet “mate” who had been in Triumvirate but left for reasons that were never made clear and came to slum with KOS – my guess is he scammed them like he did to us later. Anyway our mate Guyute decided to show us what a real bubble camp looked like - “I’m going to show you bunch of ***gots how to get kills.” Sounds good. So we head off to PF with ~3 BC’s, 1-2 cruisers and a scout in frig. Guyute sends an alt to Orvolle with a hauler to get lots of bubbles for us. I’m impressed by the use of two accounts – radical!

We got to PF without incident and start camping while Guyute bubbles the gate with mediums leaving a hole on the top so we can warp off to a 180k above spot if needed. We get a few kills but most of the stuff is small and gets through as our bubbles still aren’t all up yet. Guyute discovers he is short in ammo and goes into Orvolle to get some more while finishing the bubbling on his other account.

Our pilot in Orvolle has reported increasing chat about our camp and that people are trying to get a gang together to kill us. Shortly afterwards a gang of around 14, mostly cruisers and a few frigs, warps to the gate. We panic and warp off to our strike above the gate while they jump through and start warping off. Guyute is on his way back to the gate in his Myrm on the Orvolle side so I order us back to the gate and we pop a cruiser that hadn’t got out of the bubbles yet. Now we are ready for a fight!

It takes awhile, and a bit of encouragement from our side, before the intrepid gang of gate camp killers decides to come and get us. Finally they start warping in ones and twos and the slaughter commences. A couple more ships jump through the gate to make us nervous but it is all over in a couple of minute with about 14 ship kills plus lotsa pods for no losses. We are rapt and somewhat amazed. My Hurricane has done an impressive job getting top damage on most of the kills and I’m in love with the 'Cane.

Our frig scout had come to join us for the fight but now heads back to the adjacent 0.0 system and spots an incoming gang that’s to strong for us. We get out of the bubbles and warp to the strike above the gate as the new gang warps in. We evade them and head home giggling all the way.

We try to camp PF a couple more times but it never takes long for a bigger gang to arrive and drive us off. Shortly after that we give up 0.0 life and the joys of camping PF for low sec piracy.

This place you talk of Xenuria, i was there couple of weeks back , i didnt relise at the time it had such a bad reputation until i noticed your post and thought im sure thats where i was murdered a fortnight ago.

I had just completed a job for the caldari navy in motsu, and a message came up on the computer courier contract jita>>poitot 1.088m3 reward 20mill collateral 89mill isk.

TO make it to poitot you have to pass through the pit. There are 4 0.0 security systems.
So i jumped in my badger ii and loaded a condor into the cargo hold to scout out the area, picked up the package and headed to orvolle. Docked at a station there and set up the condor ready to jump into pf-346(The Pit) and scout out the 4 0.0 systems.

On jumping in just like you described there were warp disruption spheres peppered around and some wrecks of some unfortunate pilots, but no pirates. Id scouted the 4jumps to poitot gates seemed clear but id come across alot of these spheres in the systems.

On the way back thats when the trouble started,i think i was 1 jump from the pit and then i would of been back to orvolle,id jumped into the system and landed in a sphere, there were now pilots at the gate 3 or 4 i think.

While my ship was decloaking from the jump i had time to asses the situation.I aligned to a planet or the gate and quickly cloaked again, the ship would of been visible for asplit second and the pilots had no chance to get alock.I thought i was safe.

The next second ship whizzs past me,that was close i thought has he decloaked me and how the hell did he manage that, my inexperience was starting to show now ,taking to long to realise that id been uncloaked and should of started making evasive maneuavres straight away.

Id been uncloaked i was locked and under fire, i was going down , its was all about getting in the escape pod and getting away with my life.

Id clicked onto the stargate in the overview and i was hitting the warp to zero button in the escape pod, i was just waiting for the condor to blow up. There it goes but nothing was happening the escape pod wasnt moving , whats happening im thinking.

The next mintue im coming around in the medcal bay at kisogo, im thinking goddam them guys were good

What i was hoping to be a quick 20mill profit turned into a loss of a set of +4 and some low end hardwirings.

I wasnt the same person i once was anymore, i was a new clone, my journal read one outstanding contract.

Headed back to orvolle in a new condor, scouted out 2 systems everything seemed clear. Picked up my badger ii and the package from the orvolle station and manged to safely deliver the package, the pirates had gone lucky for me. But ill never forget running the gauntlet of warp disruption shperes sparkling like christmas lights

One especailly it was in the pit 94km from the gate back to orvolle. It was only a small 5km sphere.I warped to zero everytime to the gate on the return journey wether in my condor or badger and it always dragged me the all the way from the gate to it 94km away, i wasnt sure if this was a bug or correct.

When passing through this very dangerous area my advice is dont ask for whom the bell tolls

It tolls for thee Twisted Evil

Those were the days though, I was based out of Osmeden so I was only 2 jumps from PF. Its hard to believe PF is one of 5 highsec to 0.0 routes though:

Torrinos - EC-P8R
Kari - Y-MPWL
Dital - KBP7-G
Keberz - HED-GP

are the others.

So PF is not alone Very Happy.

Cry Havok is very much the dominant aggressor in the pit, they have a few POS and none of the other pirate groups will mess with a ship thats in cry havok. It would be interesting to see what would happen if a fleet of size did some damage to the Pos or actually attacked and killed a member of cry havok.
Gaining control of an area is one thing but maintaining it against a opposing force is different. I have been watching the pit for some time now and I have noticed a trend forming. When a fleet not affiliated with Cry Havok gets caught in the warp sphere cluster they respond by blowing up the spheres and then heading out.

Those sphere cost money especially the really large ones. So I think at some point as traffic becomes more common through there that cry havok will have to re-asses the ammount of money they spend on their blockades. With enough agitation, a war could be possible.

couple of months ago my now old ceo found a wh in stain that went to genesis low sec. we loaded up a mega and nuet geddon and headed off with zero intention of using the wh to get back. Some random alliance guy tagged along in a hurricane we went all the way through genesis without seeing a thing. So we decided to head to syndicate i mean whats the worst that could happen?

so here we are flying through the armpit that is that god forsaken region again not seeing a soul.

**** this noise.

set auto for pf- get into system and warp to orvolle nothing on gate no bubbles in sight.you gotta be kidding me was the general response so we head back into whatever the next bumhole system is called.

megathron on gate he'll do nuets t2 blasters heavy ecm drones and the mega goes down local fills up and we laugh as we begin to start picking stuff off.

this turned intoa three way battle we actually managed to get off grid and escape with our ships intact....but then we decde to go back for giggles.

in the end
1 megathron
2 hurricanes
1 domi
1 rook

we lost the geddon and thron but had a bloody good laugh while doing it.

When I was ratting here (the region, that is) in a Stealth Bomber for sec status, I managed to come across a faction spawn which put out a Vindicator BPC. Getting that through the gate camps was quite the experience.

I don't see the mystique of this system. It's pretender nullsec for babies. Entry direct to high sec?

This was my latest experience with "the pit". I prefer to call it chickenwuss land. I jumped through my solitary Proteus. No other corpies of mine in the area, or in high sec next door. No one else on gate at all in fact, in high sec.

Enemies in PF on the gate consisted of Phobos, 2 Domis, an inty (claw) 1 hurricane and 1 drake. When i decloaked and started targeting, they all mwd'd to the gate ( the ones off it) and the ones on the gate hugged. When I aggro'd the hurricane in attempt to catch it before it made gate, they all jumped.

27 minutes later, they had tripled their numbers and jumped back into me. I soaked up their dps for a couple minutes or two, then jumped out sighing.

Honestly, all the 0.0 spots that connect to high sec are the worst. Just spots where people can pretend to be hard while hugging their precious gate to high sec. Don't know why I even took the detour on the way to my destination.

They probably thought it's a trap since I don't see any chance of a proteus surviving against 2 domi, cane, drake and phobos while being the aggressor.

0.0 gates in high-sec are the most dangerous ones actually. In deep 0.0, you look at both sides of a gate and assume the neutrals are hostile and thus you plan your strategy. Near high sec, you can't. Near a system of +100 people, a lone ship agressing you might be a bait alt of a 20 man gang, or may be stupid who knows.

Umm.. sure.. why not? Just sorta hang out near the gate and someone will be along shortly. After you get podded, mail them and ask if they know me, if not then just go back and sit there a bit longer.

You are absolutely correct. There is almost ALWAYS a trap... Some lone little velator just chilling out not bothering anybody in pf. Then a bunch of gate campers see the velator and fly over to lock and attack it. Next thing you know, wvroom wvroom wvroom etc. A huge fleet jumps through the gate and scrables all the people attacking the velator and blows them to tiny space bits.

The reason they jumped away is probably because when your right next to high sec you get baited and trapped all the time. There are gate campers and then there are gate campers dumb enough to fall for a bait and switch.

So did you kill anything, or did you bravely hug the gate too and jump out when you felt as overwhelmed as they had earlier?

You called it pretender nullsec for babies, but you bravely went wading into the kiddie pool to kick some ass.

I guess bravery is all in your point of view :)

Before one can walk, one must first learn to crawl.

The alternative is to be like me in my first trip to 0.0 - I won't go into specifics; suffice to say nobody could call me a coward - I plunged in all the way from lowsec with a hold half-full anyway of ammo. The reward for my bravery was about five minutes of existence in 0.0.
