Excellent graphs, Chribba.

If the decline in posts may be tied to a decline in active, unique players for Eve (as opposed to active accounts), when will this begin to impact things like the Character market?

Have a look at the Character Bazaar forum -- so many [WTS] go unsold because they don't meet some 200-300 isk/sp requirement the seller desires. It seems like the true market for selling character is at a much lower price point than that. Many more sell orders than buy orders right now, if you will; it's just that people sometimes feel okay about unsuccessful sell orders (and keep paying that subscription for a character they'd prefer to sell).

I think there are an incredible amount of characters just rotting on accounts, unused.

Scam threads, IPO, investment **** and all that kind of stuff is flooding MD.

The real market discussions are on the bottom of a big pile full of crap and nobody wants to search trough the crap to get to them.

I have never known MD to be any other then this to be honest.Only difference i see is a lot of the 'elite' from back then has fallen flat on their faces and we now have a nice mixture of none elite regulars on MD.'

I'll add two more possibilities:

-> The added checking on forum logins from additional IP addresses. This has turned my forum following at work to read-only (or using IE when I'm desperate - for some reason the work proxy causes a forum lockout when using Firefox Razz).

-> Two market discussion channels in-game, both of them used as an extension of the forum (though they've also been nearly dead during the times I've logged in recently).

I don't mind the quiet right now, its given me a chance (and time) to look through other subforums.

1) You've got to love MD. First page of this thread there are already graphs.

2) My guess is that it's all because of Tyranis. This is one of if not the most significant expansions with regards to trading. Every major change is going to have a huge effect on the market. Also, I think most of the active posters that were willing to speculate about it's effects already have, and right now we are all sitting and waiting, or, more precisely, furiously clicking buttons in eve trying to get our portfolio to look the way we want it before the market goes insane.

Even outside of MD I know a lot of players are taking a week or 2 break before **** hits the fan and gives everyone a muddy shower. If anything I think activity is going to skyrocket this summer.

I can already tell you that as a risk averse person, I will not be playing the market to heavily around the 18th. Hell no.

The character market at the moment is rather interesting. I have noticed the same things as you except people are using a lot of alts to bump up character prices. When they receive an offer a lot of them mock the offer and the buyer never returns as they try to jack up the price.

Characters will continue to sell under the price of monthly plex because of SP inflation. Remaps and the ability to create much better characters than were originally available have diminished the value of characters. That and a lot of people do have spare characters or accounts that they can resub if needed.

I totally agree. For me, getting my portfolio "where I want it" means isk. But, you know, tyranis islike what, 6 days away? That leaves me 5 days of business as usual and one day of "omfg everything must go! All hands, abandon ship!!!! *klaxon klaxon klaxon*".

Chribba - I believe it was 2007 was the last full year MD was at the bottom of the forum. Can we get a 2007 full year vs a 2009 full year compare?

Would be nice to see the difference :)

This!!!!!!!!

And in one week tyrannis will hit, and everybody sorts out "things" as everybody assumes the market will crash in some way.

Take me for example. I sold all my veld/trit stock by yesterday assuming it will hit the floor, and bought a hughe stock of nox instead.

Time will tell. Some will lose, some will win. I hope to be on the winners side, but does´nt everybody?

My two cents.

Thank you very much for this.

It confirms my believe that the number of posts from 2007 vs 2009 was only slightly different even the last two months of 2007 matched 2009 in quantity and frequency. The only difference was we didn't have nubs asking stupid questions, people trolling the nubs, and mods moving posts that had no reason to be in MD.

So back in 2007 when MD was hidden and safe from randoms with some spare time to troll, it was a little quieter, but every post was quality and a majority of the regulars participated.

Conclusion... MD really is dieing, dieing a slow and painful death into the depths of idiocy.

This post is contributing to that death :)

If the overall trend for posts is going down slowly I think that's a good thing!

Complainers overall start more posts => Must be less to complain about than last year!

(Also may have something to do with the thousand other methods/forums on google to find Eve info...)

Corp and alliance forums on average have been getting more tech savvy and seeing more utilization than Eve-O forums.

Idiots, like wolves, form packs to bring down prey of greater stature.

Why would they do this? Because they can't stand seeing an example of what they can never be.

In that regards, idiots are more like jackals.

Yep its our fault for not breaking the downward trend. And WMD's, and global warming.

The last thread was open for 10 days and you don't feel you had sufficient time to post enough about how much we suck? I love you Leneerra.

Thank you for caring ac155, you had me thinking you missed this comment.

I had just hoped you would have kept it open till you answered the questions you said you'd answer. I guess we will have to wait till the next eCorporation announcement (I am sure you wwill not mind me not holding my breath waiting for that).

love you too,

Fixed that for you.

Let's be honest, it is not by caring that such matters get responses. Apparently only hate empowers such tenacity... at least in this general population.

Forums are quieter because FINALS are this week. In addition eve's moodscape is so dark it feels insane to play it while the sun is shinning + MD is full of self serving Ass Holes.

I'm sure those FINALS apply to a very small subset of the forum population, given the fact that they only apply to a specific location and age group.

On a sidenote, I'd appreciate it if the EBANK whiners and lackeys would keep the discussion regarding EBANK where it belongs: in fringe threads. Crapping on the one decent active thread in MD won't do anyone any good.
