I came in during Revelations and found the same pattern after every expansion:
Weeks and weeks of "WHAAAA!!! This is now broke, that is now broke. I'm going to emo-rage quit. Things where better back in 1920s ...etc."
Followed by: patch update 0.1, patch update 0.2 ..... patch update 3.5 etc.
It has been an established pattern
Play eve for long enough and you can tell what month it is simply by noting the pitch of the whine on the forums. Last patch was a particularly notable vintage with a strong laggy aftertaste, we'll have to wait till harvest time to see if this patch produces a classic vintage of whine but the vines have been well watered with emo tears and fertilized with extra nerd manure so I'm hopeful of a good crop.

WTB link to insurance changes :(
Also why am I convinced this was (assuming it is) done purely because of suicide ganking?
dev blog with insurance changes
Suicide ganking with free battleships was a symptom of screwed up mineral supply, static insurance is essentially an NPC mineral buy order that creates a fake mineral price floor. The change is a shot in the arm to free market economics not a ganking nerf, anyone with a brain and production efficiency 5 should still be able to make money from suicide ganking.

I see Tyrannis as laying foundation. Eve Gate has a -lot- of cool potential.
\o/ Someone who gets it and has something nice to say.
OK, so sue me, but I love that you talk about it like a connoisseur about teh "whine". Vintage and all that being "Dominion Whine", Apocrypha and so on.
It is a good way to tl;dr sum up the moaning.
I look forward to the updates and expansions. For the first time in a very long time, I am excited to be a carebear (yeah yeah, tears tears). It is fun to me (for now) starting the path of production, learning the ways of the market "force", and generally exploring the game anew.
All in all, I know it is not as content rich, but the EVE-Gate will give me the chance to make deals while away from my PC, allowing us to atleast communicate. The management of the queue is handy, but the communication is much better than posting here, and being ridiculed openly. I think it fun, but what do I know
