Originally by: CCP Tanis I wanted to drop in to point out that: for today's test, you will only need to copy the TQ client and add a shortcut as described in the OP. You will not need to patch anything at all!
Steps, for the lazy/TL;DR among us (like me):
1. Copy your TQ client 2. Create a shortcut to the new client somewhere 3. Edit the shortcut properties and add the following into the 'target' field, exactly, minus the quotes: " /server:singularity" (note the space before the '/')
You will then be able to login to Sisi, without having to patch anything.
We've also uploaded a new mirror, so accounts and characters should be much more up to date for everyone!
wow, and you could not come up with this post like 2hours earlier? good job :ccp: |

Edited by: Ami Hantaka on 05/08/2010 19:32:50Silly me. That is what I get for preparing ships. Get to do it all over again. Hmmm. Next time, please make sure the start system meets the following requirements: - station system
- seeded market
- medical facilities
Keep that list in mind when changing the start system |

Can you get this issue fixed more than anything else, doing this every time there is a masstest is really taxing my patience to volunteer. I specifically updated my client the night before downtime (all 2gb worth) just to get there this morning to have it ask me to redownload the entire thing again. Seriously, I don't play in 0.0 (yet) so right now this is the largest issue with me continuing to come out and help out. /emorant Ps. Thank you for the DB refresh, it was starting to look like a really old pull. |

There's an even quicker way. As this isn't patching anything just put /server:singularity on the end of your regular tranq shortcut which will connect you to sing. Remove it after the test to reconnect back to tranq.
Remember not to patch though as this is your normal eve folder and will require reinstallation to connect back to tranq if you do. |

Next time put it in the fist post or link it there. The end result was that I did lose a lot of time for nothing. -2 account for the test (at least the first half). |

thought i would give this mass test thingy a try, so at 19:00 GMT i downloaded the offline installer for the singularity server - EVE_Premium_Setup_171792_test_m.exe from the EVE Download/EVE Client/Singularity(Test) section of this website. Installed and opened program to see it reporting an incorrect version... went back to the original page i downloaded the test client from, to find it changed to EVE_Premium_Setup_167296_m.exe because you decided to use the current TQ version instead. so basically, for trying to do everything as it was told in all the threads i read, and make sure i was ready to go "ontime"... my eagerness, or your lateness, has caused me to spend 3hours installing the incorrect SiSi client due to the website not being directly updated intime. ill try again soon, hopefully the instructions can be a little more up-to-date next time around. |

Edited by: Tarasina on 05/08/2010 22:41:36 Yes, would be nice to have a notice a little earlier, I patched mine up too to SISI version but got shafted since that wasn't required. But I still bothered to copy again.
Report: Couldn't do anything in first fight. It was over before modules activated. The one battle where we didn't use drones was nice, fast lock times (10 secs maybe), modules activated and fired. After drones were deployed, guns were cycling but not firing(that often, once a minute maybe?). My invulnerability field NEVER wanted to deactivate and I activated it 30 mins earlier.
You seem to be on the right track, keep it up. |

1)Have you put the SISI client into a single, simple installer(so that it doesn't bork up all the time, and possibly mess up the TQ install? CCP: nope... Me: ok, better luck next time.
2)Have you fixed it yet? CCP: nope... Me : LOL, ok, sure, I want to waste hours of my free time helping you figure out something you should have figured out and fixed years ago.
Make a decent installer for SISI, you might have proper turnout. |

Which part of, "Create separate folder containing main client, log in to server using proper login technique, and download patch when applicable" is difficult?? Yeah, I know I oversimplified it a bit, but c'mon.. We play EVE.. We're supposed to be more intelligent than the average person... Hmmmm.... Maybe adding all the pretty, new shinnies to the game to attract new users wasn't such a good idea. Seriously though, if one thing ever kills this game (besides developer ineffectuality) it will be the dumbing-down done to attract "the other kinds of gamers"! I know I keep coming back to EVE because I can't stand being around the morons that infest other games (would never leave if that 'life' thing didn't keep popping up) I have a feeling we'll figure out whether CCP is interested in quantity or quality of sub-base in the next 18-22 months.. /fingers crossed for the intelligencia!! And testing, on the test server, is NOT an extra game feature.. They aren't responsible for making it work for everyone, but we ARE responsible for actively participating in making this game what we want it to be.. If you don't wanna log in to the test server to help out, fine, but you loose the ability to btch if you don't participate Now if only they'd make a "we're fixing rockets, help us" day! |

I followed the directions to participate in the mass testing and all went well. I now have 2 test server files. One is the original Sisi files and updates, the other is a copy of my TQ folder.
The old one and new one no longer connect to the teat server. Please advise? I must be doing something wrong.
