So imagine if EVE was a class based game in which you specialized in one ship. One ship only. So not like "pick a solo ship", more like what ship would you choose if you could only fly that one? In solo, small, and fleet.
So what ship would you pick?
I would pick the Sentinel or Hound. Both provide lots of versatility in engagements and potential interesting fun. And looks are a plus.

Loki, or any other of the T3 cruisers.
Plenty of options for one of those, long as I don't need to turn it into a cargo hauler or something. |

its a toss up between Sacrilege or Curse.
Two of my all time fav ships, almost impossible to pick between them.

Torn between the comet, taranis and ishkur. Ishk is simply better at DPS and tank, Taranis at speed, and the comet falls between. |

I have only flown Amarr ships, but overall, I love my Harbinger to death. It is great for missions up to L3, works very well for Exploration and low-class wormholes, and it performs well in PvP as well. It is simply a good all around ship. If I flew Caldari though, I'd have to go with the Drake. Nothing quite like being able to tank AND gank without any capacitor. |

One ship only? Yeah, I wouldn't play that game either. Fly all races except Minnie currently, although since I moved to w-space I've actively piloted a Cheetah more then any other ship, though it's the alt that flies it. If I would have to choose just one...... yeah, probably Domi, and now we have the Navy version too |

Tengu is probably a good choice if there can be only one. Decent a PVE (easily ousted by Golem and CNR), decent at PVP, and is quite flexible. Not that flexible ships are really that useful outside the "LOL PIK 1 SHIP" scene.

Curse... lethal in pvp, lots of mids if you want to do exploration, can be set up to passive shield tank almost as well as a Drake, or shield boost tank quite a bit too, easily enough for level 4's, pushes 500 dps with Drones and HAMs. Very cool ship.

I would quit eve. My favourite thing about this game is the number of ships and I enjoy training them all. |
