First, sensor boosters. I'm sorry, but I don't think they really need a big bright glowing aura. Just like they didn't need a big pulsing ring. Consider for a moment the amazing Eve video trailers. Do you think they would look as great and immersive if half the ships had sensor boosters running?

Next, Tracking Computers. Again, do we need a swirling glowing "thing" around the ship? Its a computer for crying out loud. Why does having an advanced tracking computer on my ship somehow create a visual anomaly around my ship?

I can understand if you need a visual queue that your enemy is doing something, however I don't really think if you need to inform an attacker that you are sensor boosting, or have a tracking computer, that this is the way it should be done. Perhaps something like EW on the overview?

Just my 2 cents.

this man speaks truth. subtle visuals, overview icons and how about sound cues to round it out?

Totally.

Frankly, lots of effects could be cut without any impact on the beauty of the game.

Welcome to the club. Some effects should probably be hidden or subdued out of tactical consideration, like warfare links, but everything else should be clear and concise (seeing as how the overview tells us what's hitting us more or less anyway) with its graphics but without clogging up the screen.

I support effects redesign fo reelzzz no but seriously yes I support effects redesign for both aesthetic and tactical reasons okay thank you Surprised

Removal of Sensor boosting graphics is one the few effects that could truly speed up the game in lag fights, err, I mean fleet battles. Being zoomed in on a large blob actually causes my computer to stall and beep until I hastily get zoomed out.

Being an interceptor pilot, I like seeing the action up close since my position relative to everyone else can mean life or death for me. Having to zoom out doesn't work well.

nope. knowing if the nme is sensor boosting or not can be key to telling what his roll /setup is. NO

Have to agree with the op here. But then again it should be other ways to know if a ship have sensor booster etc. turned on. Game would look better without all the auras.

simple solution.

Make an extra overview tab with "visable" mods that are active.

This way you could see that they have a sensor booster, and whatnot going.

Most of us don't care if it's going or not. And for pvp, we're zoomed all the way out anyways. 80% of pvp is done via the overview as it is.

For solo, you will be zoomed in a lot both on yourself to get your exact bearing, and on hostiles, for their bearings, weapon types, T1 or T2, ect. And things like sensor boosters and tracking computers are good things to know if they are being run

However, the current effects for them are too pronounced. This is from the same group who took the cyno effects away and gave us this pathetic little blip that used a new shader toy (Tip CCP, just cause it's new doesn't mean it's better). It's the same thing they did with the sensor boosters and tracking computers, they got a new shader toy, and decided to make ugly, intrusive/worse graphics with it

Exactly. I don't want to sound too role player here, but if you look at the sources of inspiration that may come from sci fi movies, you don't really see this type of effect.

CCP has spoken before about the better aggregation of data to the player via the UI. This is another good example where that effort would be of value. Give people the tactical data, but do it via the UI, not in the 3D render.

i'd like the old sensor boosting effect back along with the sound. Current one is crap (pardon my french). On that note maybe tone it down slightly when the effect is brought back.

ALso: For crying out loud reduce or completely get rid of that annoying sound when active shield hardeners/invuls are turned on!!!!!!!!!

and, and get rid of station/gate gibberish. those things are driving me nuts. Or have a checkbox in audio to enable/disable them. pretty please!!!!!

You apparently missed the subtle sensorbooster effect on SiSI pre-Apocrypha...it was radar like, it was gentle, it was perfection...it was gone in about 2 days and we got the laggy one. WTF.Neutral

Cyno fields ever gonna be intimidating again??! The sky needs to be rent asunder once again. Make it so.

Cannot tell the difference between disruptors and scrams on my Arazu effects...Maybe one in green, the old bass with ring pulses splashing off the victim for disruptor.
A blue, slightly faster pulsing one for scrams?? It matches the item colourscheme.YARRRR!!

ECM should throw "static" at the enemy. That 'radar snow' when you are searching for payperview[****] channels...How do you not know that about WW2?

Neutralizers need to go back to the old burst or display a burst effect, the constant lightning thing looks cheap and kinked and runs far too long. I cannot distinguish from nosferatu half the time[nos is okay]. Jesus.

Tracking Computer should do a yellow version of the Target Painter. Gives heads up to the victim, now he knows he's gonna get hurt, and can turn on the TDs, which look exactly like TC but "waggle slowly on the target".Rolling Eyes

Jumping ships should be pulled into the gate, like being downloaded really fast to the center of the gate.

Cloaking-revert to old cool one, the line redrawing the ship. I could swear it also used to stop midway if you started to recloak...

Active Afterburners should be distinguishable from MWD.

Webs 20% more area on the target's distortion, it's too small.

I heard the Gallente DD is now green...Neutral Return it to black,
it causes less lag now anyway.[I hate you.]

GET THE GUY WHO DID DUST514 MISSILE TRAILS, TO DO EVE SHIP ENGINE AND MISSILE VAPOUR TRAILS. \Twisted Evil/ Slightly racial engine trails??

And I had the HD particle physics nosMaulus vs the Eos demo at Fanfest 2008. Why do you hide this stuff? Slap some shaders in by now.

You guys ever play with Legos that you made spaceships out of? It takes imagination to know the arty animation is too short. Do not stop until it looks right dammit.
