"Griefing" other players = bad, unless its within the game mechanics. Kinda a thin line really. But then whats what. We all know that can flipping in noob space is a form of frowned upon grieving. It can get you banned! On the other hand. Suicide a player in a hauler in Jita and its allowed because it is within the mechanics of the game? What exactly is griefing? - "A grief player, or "griefer," is a player who devotes much of his time to making others’ lives miserable, in a large part deriving his enjoyment of the game from these activities while he does not profit from it in any way. Grief tactics are the mechanics a griefer will utilize to antagonize other players." ( full link here Linkage).... So what is the difference? If you only do it every now and then it is allowed? If you make isk from it its allowed? If you are able to do it, is that not the game mechanics? You can bait noobs and sell the loot from their wreakage. (note the new feature abandon can) You can suicide other players and sell their loot as well. Corp theft... What about that? A profit their! I just recently was suicide ganked in Jita. I lost alt of isk. Caused me some "grief" (not cryn). Thats the mechanics of the game. It has defined my game play. So really the conclusion here is the mechanics exist to cause grief. In other words if you can do it. that is what it was designed to do. Eve is a game designed to cause havoc and go in guns blazing, blowing up everything in sight. No room for small talk or a big hug. Eat or be eaten! |

No ****? I guess your other whining thread wasn't enough to announce that you were suicide ganked, so you had to make a new one. Quote: Caused me some "grief" (not cryn)
This is your second thread, stop crying. Quote: Eat or be eaten!
No **** right? You finally work that out after a supposed 2 years play? Quote: Suicide a player in a hauler in Jita and its allowed because it is within the mechanics of the game?

so warp core stabs ? using transport ship ? had a scout ? value of the cargo worth less than the ship? if your answer is no to any of those questions then you deserved to have your ship lost as all these right there are things to help your prevent such a incident occurring. Get over it. There's no such thing as griefing in EVE. To be griefing it'd have to be against the intended gameplay, which player-player action isn't here. Serious. |

Suicide ganking is, by the way, one of the reasons I prefer to move large and valuable loads via courier contract. I see it as an insurance policy. If the courier is destroyed, I keep the collateral (which is always higher than what I would sell stuff for anyways). Not always an option if you want something moved into low-sec or put up a tower, but you CAN use them to move the valuable goods a few jumps out of the major trade hubs where the suicide gankers hang out, then you're pretty much out of harm's way. And: Autopilot is evil. |

and I love it everytime I get mailed about people petitioning me for ruining their day, as a pirate Thing about ur little post, people can call it whatever they want. They just died and now they wanna air their opinion, but thing is eve is as cold and brutal as place as a real life war zone, and as long as you dont use some sort of unknown exploit or smack with prohibited content (racist jokes and so forth) CCP isnt gonna do anything about it and that is the real reason I still play this game! I absolutely do not, under any circumstances, attempt to move large worthless items with high collaterals to and from low-sec systems, and if I did I would never, ever notify pirate groups that a courier had just accepted my contract... Ever... That would just be mean! |

I got scammed out of 800 million isk, of which 200 million wasn't even mine. After receiving the isk the guy said thank you for the iskies and was never heard from again. Was it his wrong doing? Hell no. Was it due to me being unforgivably stupid? Very much so. I felt a bit bad about it, not angry, just bad. I shrugged if off in a couple of days because I knew why it happened and whose fault it was. On another day, I autopiloted my uninsured Providence freighter of 930 million isk (at the time) after some nice tritanium sales. I normally have the market configured so that it leaves out all lowsec offerings. What I had forgot that on my previous trip a few days before I had disabled the filter. I autopiloted my freighter in to 0.4 and 30 minutes later came to the computer looking at my pod floating in the middle of the screen. First reaction was "oh crap", I checked how/why it had happened. I had a nice chat with a couple of the guys showing on the killmail (got my 1 m3 of dolls back that dropped instead of 200 million worth of trit that got destroyed). Felt bad about that too for a while. Got over it it a few days. Lesson learned? Nope, no lesson learned. I already knew if I get screwed over, it's not really anyone else's fault but mine. Other people don't screw me over, I screw myself over. I love eve, but I know it will never show any love back |

You know I've seen the light. I will never suicide gank another untanked hauler full of expensive stuff no matter how tempted I get.
I have realised that making my wealth by taking it from other players too stupid to protect their assets is wrong.
Henceforth I shall go and farm level 4s constantly in a ****-fitted raven since it's clear that honesty and one-dimensional gameplay are the only worthwhile aspects of playing an MMO.

People turn on their X-box 360, boot up call of duty, and then they start shooting other people and dieing.
. . . they have fun.
These same people turn on their computer, boot up EVE, and suddenly their digital pixels are sacred. When they die they cry, and when they shoot at something else they apply ethical consequences to their actions.
You know that CCP are just a bunch of old school MMO griefers right?
If you don't want to play EVE stay in the NPC corp, even with the new taxes you will still be richer then God given enough time. Mission run and mine ore until you heart is content, so you can run missions faster and mine ore faster, so you can get even more missions and find even more asteroids to chew on.
Mkay?
Also . . . there is a reason you got ganked in jita. Fix the problem and it wont happen again. |
