I want to have all of the graphics settings on high but currently I get a little laggy on the lowest settings. I want to upgrade my RAM, for other reasons, but I am wondering if this will help to squeeze better graphics out of eve. Essentially, my question is the crappy 64mb built in graphics card going to make better graphics impossible or will the RAM help?
Thanks for your help
This is my current mac's info

Ram will not help you for better grafic, but anyway to have more then 1GB Memory is not a bad idea ;-) |

Your Macbook is one of the older models which uses the onboard intel graphics chipset. There is nothing you can really do to improve your graphics performance. More Ram will help you being able to run the higher res textures, but you wont see much improvement if any in other areas. Basically you have to upgrade to a better computer which has a graphics card with more beef. If you can afford it, get a PC rig for your gaming :-) or if that is not an option then the new iMacs have some serious punch in them graphics wise. |

I have the same model, but with more memory (3GB, the maximum that machine will support) and a larger harddrive, and it will probably speed it up quite a bit. But to be honest, it is not even close to a reasonable gaming machine (and never has been).
It has a GMA950 which doesn't support vertex shaders, has shared memory and is horribly slow in most other aspects as well.
If you want reasonable graphics, you would have to get a newer computer.
(On another note, Dominion seemed to help in space performance on that machine quite a bit) |

Hi Madikk,
You are running unsupported hardware and as others have mentioned, the primary bottleneck is your graphics card. |

Thanks guys for the help. Since I can't really afford to buy a whole new computer I was wondering since my mom was getting rid of her 2003-04 dell if I should take that and try to make something out of it. I mean I can update the ram, the graphics card, and I have a nice external hardrive if I did all that would it make a decent comp. or are there are important factors that I'm missing? |
