From what i understand of the game...

It's nowhere near the same as the new show.

With thousands of people trying to be Teal'C or Daniel Jackson? No thanks. We already have dozens here.

It'll be out of control in the Stargate game. MMO's based on TV shows don't exactly encourage originality.

With the quality of the EVE Trailers, and the amounts of videos done by CCP shown on fanfest each year, I wouldn't be surprised if the Devs suddenly announced a EVE Movie trilogy or some sort of short film.
Since the Devs clearly have a thing for making movies, most of them being hilarious. Laughing

If CCP have the tens of millions of dollars required to invest in an EvE movie, I'd prefer that they invested it in EvE.

The show has an mmo, not the other way around. Not sure if you can call it an mmo even, it's been canceled so often and had so many other problems I doubt it'll be much when it's released.

And we have Daniel Jacksons already here in eve, they're spreading their unimaginative spoor into any game they can.

I would love an Eve based tv show if it was shot documentary style and centered around a small Caldari paper company.

Yeah, i estimated dozens in my previous post. There's still some degree of imagination required to bridge the gap between the TV show and this game, though. You'd have to arpee it a little to explain what you're doing here.

I'm sure CCP would one day love to create an EVE movie, seeing as they said so in fanfest.

Other way around genius, the MMO is based on the show(s) which have been around for a while.

Stargate (tv show + movie) has only been around 14 odd years. The game started development about 1.5 years ago if i recall correctly.

I felt it had massive appeal until I saw one of the later trailers which shows it more like a Halo 3rd person shoot em up than a strategic mmo. I think a similar setup to Eve would be the best way to release the new Stargate game, with more focus on tactical attacks, assigning units to different roles, positions, basically being able to give commands such as "Defend this position", "Covering fire", etc. Instead it looks more like you just run around with your joystick or keyboard, ducking behind walls and pew pewing.

The idea of being able to enter the stargate to visit and explore an uncharted world or complete a retrieval, rescue or search and destroy mission, build and maintain a mining operation or even colonise an Alpha Site (equivalent to outpost) with it's own defences for PvP and the likes.

So much potential but I just see Halo multiplayer at the moment. No sense of ownership and very linear. Complete mission, complete mission, complete mission, go to battleground to fight pvp, complete mission, that's about it.

There was so much potential for Stargate Universe and whilst it's still all subject to change, I hope they at least try to mold some of the great portions of Eve into this new game.

As long as the graphics are half decent and the Stargate name is on it, people will line up around the block for it, and they know it.

Perhaps, but the game will fail just as quickly.

I would love them to explain the NBSI in the movie.

-Why did we shoot that guy again, he posed no threat?!

-You just never know and it makes me look badass in the monthly statistics.

At FF, the discussions regarding expanding the IP of the EVE universe seemed to revolve around a lack of 'celebrity' in the game. The absence of a central character to base a production around. They are working on it.
