46 and still ticking! Seams like last year I was upgrading to MS DOS 6.0 with MS Windows 3.11 on my IBM AT 286, 1024K memory & 20 MB hard drive, and had to add a 3.5" floppy drive to do the upgrades!

Yeah, same here.

And yet I still spend most of my time wishing the week would pass faster so the weekend would arrive :)

You flash git! I was jealous of guys with 3.5" floppies Embarassed

After playing with TRS80's and Commodore Pets at school, my parents were kind enough to buy me a Beeb model B (for educational reasons of cause Wink). All games erm educational programmes were on cassette tape.

Those seniors can really gank you with a vengeance...

I saw the South Park episode about seniors yesterday so I have lots of mental images of them flying space ships now.

closer to 60 than 50 here!
First PC was an AT 12 mhz with 1 meg ram and 20 meg hard drive, it was state of the art at the time and cost 7 thousand US Dollars in Singapore, tax free. 15 inch Svga Eizo monitor Ftw. Shipped to darkest West Africa where it became a tourist attraction Razz

First Space game was "Starflight" an amazing Universe as big as Eve's on 2 360's

I will be 52 in november.

My first online game was the old Star Trek MUD on the compuserve servers waaaaay back, running an apple II with an amazing state of the art 300 baud modem. Before the internet was born to the public at large, i also ran my own 4 node BBS utilizing my homebuilt modem rack, where i offered forums and various text based MUD games. I remember adding RAM to my first 286 machine, upgrading it from 64k onboard to a whopping 1 megabyte via soldering the ram chips onto the existing on board ram piggy backed, only after throwing several alligator clips into my freezer for a while to use as heat sinks while carefully getting on and off with the solder gun as fast as i painstakingly could. I also pulled my first overclock on that 286 by swapping out the timing chip and thus going from 8mhz to an amazingly fast 12mhz making me state of the art!! LOL

Awww...the good old dayz :)

Anyone 40 and over playing EVE...besides me :-) Hopefully in another 40 years by the time I end up in some "old folks home" it'll be common place to see us geezers playing whatever evolves from MMOs instead of still cards or checkers.

49 a couple days back. looking forward to the spinal implants for full immersion VR. then i can move into EVE fulltime and ignore this RL thing completely.

I hear the PC gamer demographic has an average age of over thirty these days. When you've got U3A (Universite du Troiseme Age - they're all over retirement age) running LAN parties in the local community school, it's going to help push up the mean. And that was 5 or more years ago (my dad).

EVE especially is a niche game. Some of the attribtes that it takes to stick with it are less frequently found in school-age kids than in the mortgage-age section of the kid market, notably "the cash to buy PLEXes" :)

Oh, and /kezzle raises his forty hand with two fingers extended.

That would make sense, as all the 12 year olds with too much money are all glued to Generic New Shooter #12747574 on the X-fail.

Turning 50 this month, been gaming since the Apple 2/Amiga days.

I'm guessing by the time another 40 years has gone by, we'll be plugging ourselves directly into the net ... which may be convenient when were too old to move the joystick any more ... no not _that_ joystick, the one on the compu ... oh ... wait ... it's a mouse now isn't it ...

Very Happy

the old guys like us literally invented computer slang for you guys :)

also, I am 99 % positive the guys i ran with , when UO first came out, way back in 1997 invented the term "asshat" for after ganking people on day 1 release we would take our characters pants off and sit repeatedly on the dead guys head before we cut him up and deboned him.Very Happy

those were the days allright.../sigh
