Hi, guys. Hi girls. And Hi CCP.

This is from strace, theese particular lines repeats itself over thousand of tims before the process dies.

It doesnt appear to try to open anything else either, since everything it loads, loads ok. (in strace atleast).

Now, I am not sure how this happened, i reinstalled eve, reinstalled wine, reinstalled wine-build because i had a system crash that caused all my files in /home/langvann/ to "dissapear" - apparently nothing else happened since everything else is working as a charm.

I've used the offline installer, (yes that huge file).

Now what ? I've already tried every single "fix" on these forums to fix this but to no vain.

while we have improved our psychic powers recently, it would be very cool if you could provide some modicum of information ... as in:
- distibution used (and version)
- system details, in particular GFX card
- version of Wine used
- GFX drivers used

also, CCP stopped supporting eve some time ago, you will NOT receive any direct support from them (or even an acknowledgment)

Once you have provided the above information, and if nobody here is able to help, it would probably be worth posting your trace to the relevant wine bug tracker etc

only obvious thing would be the bleeding edge version of wine you are using

1.1.27 has been reported as working (as well as 1.123 and 1.1.24), have you tried "downgrading" wine?

todays git works too so 1.2.28 shouldn't be an issue

make sure wine is basicly working (wine notepad)
makre sure 3d acceleration is working with the driver
try starting eve in virtual desktop (wine explorer /desktop=a,1024x768 eve.exe)

This sounds a little bit like a harddisk problem. Normaly, files do not just disapear. If there were some corruptions, they got moved to the lost&found directory in the root of the device. Have you checked your harddisk with smartctl? Maybe your disk is still eating your data while realocating the defect blocks.

It can also be a wine bug.. lets hope so :-)
