There are 5 races and 14 bloodlines.

Amarr (Amarr, Ni-Kunni, Khanid)
Caldari (Deteis, Civire, Achura)
Gallente (Gallente, Intaki, Jin-Mei)
Minmatar (Sebiestor, Brutor, Vherokior)
Jove (Static, Modifier)

Is that it?

WHOOP!
I think this is the most convincing thing i have heard as of yet, also does this mean that the Jove will be playable in FPS? o.0!

It might just be the number of solar systems with security class 'F'...

If you have the latest database dump, run this SQL:-

SELECT * FROM mapSolarSystems WHERE securityClass LIKE 'F%'

You get 514 results...

Interesting, so what does security class 'F' mean?

Well, looking at it further, it includes all systems in the following regions:-

Cache, Insmother, Impass, Feythabolis, Tenerifis, Omist

514 solar systems in total. So my guess would be that it will only take place in those regions?

HUMM this sounds even better Ahh what could it mean!??

lol I doubt it but who knows. Remeber Jove are skinny and have big heads (in comparison). I can already see how fight vs Jove will happen: Boom headshot! Boom headshot! Boom...

I'm not sure it has something to do with the five races, are Static Jove and Modifier Jove really a bloodline?

ding ding ding... I think this is it actually. Hilmar actually pronounced 514, 5 14, which leads me to feel that this is it. It's also an incredible telling scripture. Very eveish.

Anyhow, as to the DUST part. DUST is almost certainly an abbreviation. Hilmar refers to DUST soldiers. This inclines us to believe that the name refers to the technology making the soldiers, or the origin of the soldiers.

So these soldiers are clones, probably at a massive cost. They're mercs, so created by concord? I donno.. I start to draw a blank about here.

@Ruby Khann - Are you an alt posting RLM isk seller? Cause you sound like one. If you don't want to be constructive go do it somewhere else. Maybe in rl.

For me this is also probably the most telling potential source. The scripture implies that you get one chance only, and that mixes in well with the idea of FPS, respawns, dust to dust. In essence, if you were a bunch of immortal pod pilots, wanting to fight a massive multi-planet ground war outside your pods, how would you do it?

Why, inexpensive clones, just rinse and repeat and throw numbers and money at the problem. 0.0 is outside CONCORD jurisdiction so prohibitions against cloning & messing with clones wouldn't be as important.

As for the DUST bit, well, could be an acronym, or simply dealing with 'dusting off' - which if memory serves describes how you drop troops via airborne assets for combat missions.

All good points, I thought about the dust to dust thing but couldn't draw much more. Adam and eve and all that.

I'm betting however that the lore will 'start' it in empire space as some result of factional warfare. Say the Gallentee (downtrodden as they are now in FW) develop these new invincible soldiers to push into battle over and over. In the video you can clearly see it's taking place on Intaki V not a station... a planet.

Anyhow if it did have to do with 'dusting off' why capitalize it in all the material? Careful consideration is taken to capitalizing DUST in all of the media so it just pushes me more toward an acronym.
Drop Universal Star Troop? I donno. I'm really drawing a blank there.

Maybe "F" for faction warfare capturable or something? I like the "Awake, O sleeper, rise from the dead and Christ will shine on you." thing from Ephesians 5.14 as well.

Neat.

Bible quotes are old, EVE supposedly older still, let the book of the dead remain dead!

'Awake o' sleeper, rise from the dead and become crisp again when the lights of the heavens shine upon you.'

I like that even better, orbital bombardment now! Twisted Evil

In all seriousness:

I think in one of the threads that popped up back when the DUST logo and trademark were first registered by CCP, I saw speculation that it might be an EVE expansion and people wondered why it might be named that.

And some guy linked an EVE chronicle, which was about cloning (and possibly about Jovians, I forget), and somehow the contents of that chronicle fit perfectly to the name.

Unfortunately I can find neither the thread nor the chronicle again, because I didn't pay proper attention Neutral
