When taking too much damage (30-40%) from one hit in your largest effective buffer (for example if you have 3 armor 2 shields and 2 hull, 3 armor would be the largest buffer) the screen would blur and shake for two seconds, a loud bludgeoning sound would play and mute all other sounds and replace them with a 2000hz sine wave for a few seconds. And modules could not be controlled for one or two seconds due to massive shock in the ship's hull. (Like throwing a pc tower down a flight of stairs, wouldn't work right away now would it?) |

Dude, if yer takin that much damage then yer dead already. Why add insult to injury? We have wrecking hits, that's good enough. |

It would make spider tanking less effective when people's hardeners shut off due to getting pounded too hard. Also to add the "Wow." to getting hit by 8 large tachyon cannons. Do you even have imagination? A real post next time please. |

I know what real depth charges do to a real sub. I don't need an imagination for your idea. You want a really big hit to further cripple an already dying ship. How is good for game balance? Think about it, when will one hit do 30-40% damage to a buffer tanked BS? And if you mean 30-40% from a the combined damage of multiple ships and weapons then the ship will be dead in short order, so what does it matter? It seems to me you want to turn an easy kill into an absolute slaughter. Why? |

Cause it would look awesome. And I guess it would only work with grouped guns because their damage stacks accordingly. |

I would love to see a more elaborate death animation when you get podded. And there needs to be an effect for the implants in your head getting destroyed. I would suggest choosing one color per implant slot. I'm sure this would incite more people to stay on the battlefield after their ship explodes. [/end of trolling] |

Edited by: Irn Bruce on 02/08/2009 22:18:41 I think it'd be cool. Eve is somewhat lacking in the effects department, the devs have acknowledged this and are contstantly working to improve it, as with all the aesthetic aspects of the game. Most likely a lot of players would just turn it off, but that's no reason not to have things like this in the game. I'm always for adding more graphical/audio goodness to the engine. Except, how about just having it for wrecking hits, rather than putting a number on it? |

No. Because if I'm loosing a battle then the last thing I want is even more disadvantages... That stuff might be fun in CoD where you can just respawn but not in a game where you potentially have months of work to loose. |

as long as you can switch it off.
also it should not affect your modules, in larger battles module lag, non-ending cycles and **** is bad enough, no need for something new making stuff work even less.
uhm, btw.. eve has sound? |

i do have an imagination. im imagining a 300 v 300 fleet fight where wrecking hits cause your modules to stop working, and it takes three minutes to turn them back on again due to lag. im imagining how much thats going to **** me off. |
