On July 22nd Altruism Leadership was informed that a small raging band of Drama Nerds had approached the Mostly Harmless HC, and demanded that Altruism be kicked from the Alliance. Apparently during some "secret vote" 9 corps had rattled their swords and wanted us out. 4 of which stating they would leave if we did not. Their reasons were unfortunately never made clear. But we have put together this list from various sources:

1. We made fun of many of their members constantly for failing so miserably at PVP.
2. We forced players to fit their ships realistically and ostracized members for bringing pve fits, mining fits etc to large fleet battles.
3. Our FC's in many instances argued with "senior" Alliance FC's because their ideas where not always reasonable.
4. We shot at blue's who were kicked from our corp and then recruited into other MH corporations.
5. Apparently our members have an "elitist" attitude that didn't sit well with specific MH members.
6. We questioned the lack of transparancy behind Alliance high-end Moons and asked where the money was going (oops!).

So a Meeting was called, and each member-corporation within MH was represented, a vote was called. 6 voted against the kick... 8 Voted for, but 2 of the 8 said they would reconsider if we promised to follow an "Alliance mandate." So another vote was suggested...

If Altruism
1: Stops trolling local after big fights (wins)
2: Stops Posting in CAOD
3. Respects other MH members

12 Corporations voted to allow us to stay, 2 voted against. (Those 2 being ThC and Steels Soldiers)

We held a corp meeting the next day, decided via majority vote that we would follow these rules and stay in MH... as the discontent against us seemed to be a minority, and the support we were getting from many was quite gratifying.

We informed the HC we would accept their proposal.

42 hours later we were kicked from Mostly Harmless, and then given docking rights until July 26th 0000 EVE time.

While having no specific hatred for Mostly Harmless or its members... the following days of pew will be fun :)

Of the 2 months we spent in MH, I have to say it was a pleasurable experience. We got a chance to fight against Triumvirate, Ev0ke, White Noise, Cry Havoc and other people of skill and a high level of play in EVE. Unfortunately at this present time it seems that the MH we joined, loved and fought for has become disfigured by people such as IT Yassir of SOLJA and Lucian James of THORN. MH was an alliance that stood by principles of fairness and family, these are concepts I believe very strongly in and even though the process in which MH dismissed us was utterly disgraceful (through the acceptance of ultimatums through the smallest and weakest corporations in the alliance) they still parted ways with us in class and fairness, allowing us time to get our assets out and paying us the months income distribution we helped them secure in Pure Blind.

There's no doubt in my mind that the truth of Altruism in Mostly Harmless will come to light in this thread, through chat logs, forum dumps and other means and I hope that people don't look negatively upon MH because there are many, many good people there and some good leaders but the alliance is riddled with cancer and self-serving Cronyists as it stands today.

Good luck, MH. You'll need it if you plan on getting through the storm that's brewing in your ranks.

Edit: even tho Play Dead was talkin crap about me on their TS while I was in channel listening to them say it, I would have to agree with them on this one. Your pvp'ers trying to lead roid-humpers as you put it. Imagine if SuperTwinkey had to lead a gang of normally hulk/raven pilots. They would vote him out too after he called them every swear word under the sun and told them how much they failed at life.

Yeah, i'll take responsibility for the the last two of Aya's first links. Those were my posts, lol.

You know, from the point of view of a guy who has a lot of RL friends within MH (thankfully none of them the offenders who were ultimately part of our being removed from the alliance), this is just a tough situation to handle. MH's leadership continued to give mixed signals, at some points Derran of the High Council would talk with the corporation as a whole and be understanding of the situation and it was made clear that in terms of true skilled pvp, Altruism held up the US tz, and we needed to cooperate with the other elements of MH before the alliance could truly become a great alliance, while at other times were were treated as hostile invaders.

As was stated repeatedly before, leaders of corporations like IT Yassir and Lucian James tried to gather together a secret vote to remove Altruism from MH. When Nevvyn called together a Leadership Council meeting, only 10 of the 16 corporations in MH were represented. While the meeting as a whole went smoothly with the consensus being reached that Altruism could stay if we abided by a set of conditions which essentially was 'stop talking', it was plagued with more personal conflict including Lucian James coming into the meeting channel repeatedly and screaming into TS, resulting in being banned from the TS server twice (if one of you Triumvirate guys could confirm the results of this meeting, or maybe provide a recording since i figure you had someone in there, lol, it'd be greatly appreciated.)

Altruism then decided, as a corporation, on two things. First off, we wanted to help MH however we could, as we invested a lot of time and isk into making the alliance what it was, even if we were to seperate from them and remain blue. As such, we had two proposals. The first would be to reform Avarice, take control of the system of P-2TTL and a promethium moon, providing half of the moons income back to MH. We would remain blue, and provide our muscle to the fleets of MH, while removing us from the drama completely. The second would be a rather complete gag order while remaining in Mostly Harmless, while continuing to do our roams into Pure Blind, Outer Ring and Syndicate as primarily Altruism-only gangs.

The response from the High Council and M. Corp, according to Clay101 in a meeting he had with the corporation, was we were to be removed from the alliance under the conditions that we were given 48 hours to remove our property from MH space, we would be payed our share of the months moon mineral income, and as of 0:00 on the 26th we would officially be reset. When questioned on the influences that lead to this decision, after being continually met with cryptic responses like 'the Altruism puzzle piece doesn't fit in the MH puzzle' and constant denial of any personal feelings being taken into M. Corps decision, the Altruism members began grilling Clay harder, until my longwindedness bored everyone and the meeting was called off. What did result was that Clay101 granted Altruism permission to use the MH public TS until we could establish our own communications channel.

In the days before the reset, Altruism continually raided into EC- and acquitted itself well, destroying Council, Defiant, and various pirate gangs on the Torrinos gate. After the reset, no outright aggression such as raiding parties were shown towards MH, however IT Yassir and Lucian James immediately organized a fleet of 30 pilots and 2 carriers to attack an Altruism gang in EC-. After escaping the ambush with few losses, Altruism withdrew and did not launch an immediate counterattack, however hours later Lucian James, upon discovering our use of the MH public TS, came on in a rage and began to IP ban all of the Altruism pilots.

TL; DR: MH, upon treating us like a rabid dog to be put down, caused the conflict to escalate like it has. And I hate MH for forcing me to have to fight against my friends.

Default HC Update - 26/07/2009
So, time for another HC update.

As you're all aware, Altruism have now left Mostly Harmless, and have currently been set neutral. There's been a lot of friction and grief on the forums regarding this recently, and sometimes it has been hard to focus on the core issue, that being, were they the right type of corp for Mostly Harmless. I know a lot of people have very passionate opinions, both for and against, on this topic.

There is more to being a corp in Mostly Harmless than just being good at blowing things up. More recently we have been focusing on this aspect of being a 0.0 alliance but it is not the only area that is important. Communications, teamwork, alliance attitude, self sufficiency, maturity, respect, these are other areas that a Mostly Harmless corporation should be proficient in and it is having a good balance of these that will ensure Mostly Harmless is around for the future, not just the present. In the past, all the corporations have worked together to help shore up the underdeveloped areas of the other corporations, in a supportive and friendly atmosphere, working as part of the bigger team that is the alliance, and less on the internal focus that is a corp minded attitude.

Unfortunately, there was always a question mark over Altruism's membership of Mostly Harmless and a lot of people in HC and LC have been working hard with the Altruism leadership, not to change, but to help both sides understand what is needed to fit in order for this to work. As a corporation, Altruism have a very clear identity that they have worked hard to build and maintain. Ultimately we have been unable to find the common ground necessary to allow this to work for the benefit of Mostly Harmless, and that is what has led us to this situation. You can discuss with your relevant leaderships as to the reasons behind it, all your LC reps have been involved in this, they are more than aware of how we have ended up at this decision.

So, let us put this behind us, the decision has been made, for what we believe are the right reasons, we all wish Altruism well and I expect you all to conduct yourselves with the standards that Mostly Harmless expect.

On other topics, the HC has made a 20billion isk investment in replacement battleships for alliance ops, now that the FC team has finalised the battleship fitments that we will use, this replacement progam will go into effect. Be aware that we are still working on the whole streamlining process, so feel free to provide your feedback on how it is working to your LC representatives. With the replacement program moving into effect, we look forward to the increased turnout as a result of that. We have made plans to make sure the replacements are handled, its now all upto you to bring it for MH.

For those of you who've had thoughts of becoming an FC, but have no idea how to go about it, or are not sure if you've got the balls of steel it takes to lose ships on behalf of the alliance, step up, as we move forward we are going to need fresh meat for the grinder.

On another note, as you'll have read we have a new corporation starting with Mostly Harmless. Around 60 "real" people, strong cap presence, supercap capable with a few ready to go, I'm sure you'll all do your best to make them welcome and help them settle in.

Apparently our virtual muzzling of Altruism members so as to cut out the bull**** wasn't common ground. I wish they would just admit that there were a couple leaders of the 'old guard' of MH and in the HC that just plain didn't like Altruism.
