Hi all, í have done 1 year plan and one friend (experienced player) asked me to check and plan and improve it if possible. I had the skill Tactical Shield Manipulation planed to lvl5 (lvl4 atm), he said its not worth at all since its a "useless" skill.
I´m Caldari, and i will only use Caldari Ships, so the right thing to do in my point of view its to specialize in Shields skills. My question is, my friend is right about the Tactical Shield Manipulation? Or its important for pvp?
I realy think its one important skill but i want to read more opinions about it before i take the skill from the plan.

Right now, if you have TSM 4, there's a chance when you're down to less than 5% shields that damage that doesn't fully deplete your shield might still bleed through into armor. If you train TSM 5, you'll take no armor damage until your shields are fully depleted. That's the only difference.
Up until a recent patch, TSM 5 was required to train Capital Shield Operation, but not any longer. If you have absolutely nothing else to train, go ahead. If you have ANYTHING else you can train, you're probably better off leaving it at 4. |

The actual bonus from the skill is rather pointless, but you want to train it to lvl IV for the modules it unlocks. |

as far as i know the skill itself isn't that useful
but Tactical Shield Manipulation IV is needed for T2 shield hardeners so that's the only reason i would train for it |

the capital shield skill was recently changed to no longer require tactical shield manipulation anymore, before the change only cap ship pilots would train in specifically to get the shield booster skill, now its virtually worthless
the skill functions to prevent bleed though to armor at a certain percentage fo shield, so at lvl 0 there is bleed though at 25%, lvl 1 20%.... lvl 5 no bleed though. so a very negligible benifit from the skill
only reason now to train it is to get t2 hardeners at lvl 4
its not worth training to lvl 5, being a rank 4 skill it equals training 4 lvl 1 skills to lvl 5, that time would be much more productive in some other shield skill |
