I want to explore asteroid belts in nearby systems, but don't have a destination to go to to get into the system. Can I just go to the gate and do Activate Gate? If so, can I see the Security rating of the system before I activate? |

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. If you want to explore belts in other systems just warp to the gate to that system, jump to it and then warp to the belt... If you haven't changed any default settings the gate will warn you if you're trying to jump into a low sec system. Also you can go to your map and do set destination on the system you're going to and the security rating will be listed in the upper left corner.

Thanks. That's what I needed to know. |

Edited by: Joe Starbreaker on 21/07/2009 16:38:36 In the star map, you can set the stars to be colored by security status. Stick to the blues, greens, and yellows.
Alternatively, download Ombey's map of the galaxy and print it out. |

It teaches you how to move about, how to pew pew things and a lot of basic stuffs. |

If you just want to know about the next system: right-click the gate (in overview or in space), select 'add as first waypoint'. The system is now added to your autopilot and it will show up on the left-hand side as destination. That will also show a small dot indicating the security status of the system (red = 0.0, orange-ish = low sec, yellow, green, or blue = high sec). |

Best advice. I just look at the color of the dots. It is also a good idea to do this when you are thinking about buying something. Nothing worse than buying 22,500 Enriched Uranium from a hisec system, only to discover that it is only reachable by going through two lowsec systems (Clarelam in Domain). Ombey's 2D Maps
