The way that works is not consistent with other jettisoning

If I have drones and I jettison them they dont come out cargo ready to put in a drone bay , they come out in a jet can still packaged

EITHER

1) packaged ships jettisoned from an orca should come out packaged in a jet can like everything else which would render that exploit tactic useless

or

2) Drones jettisoned from cargo should be ready to scoop into drone bay.

a) That would allow ships to give drones to other ships in combat.
b) It would also allow hulks and mining barges to basically keep unlimited drones in their cargo bays. spit them out and scoop them into drone bays as needed.
c) It would also allow people to sell drones to people in space without having to go to station.

Either way is fair but it should be consistent and not a sneaky exploit

Ships jettisoned into space are completely unfitted. Unless you were once ganked by an unfitted battlecruiser, I fail to see the problem.

Please explain to the class how being able to jettison an assembled but unfitted ship is so unfair that you call it an exploit, while effectively unlimited drones for nearly every ship in the game is totally fair and wouldn't break a thing.

If you can present a compelling argument, I will eat my keyboard and my surviving spouse will post a video to YouTube. You have ten minutes.

Go.

Please learn how a ship maintenance bay works, and how it is different from a cargo bay.

Both of you, actually. Ships jettisoned from a ship maintenance bay can be fully fitted (and are, if you're doing it right).

-10 pirates are using orcas to provide fitted ships to suicide gank miners for some time now, so that is indeed possible.

It's called game balance. You are not meant to replenish drones in space/from other players. That's the drawback of drones compared to other weapon systems. Simple as that.

I've been corrected by a couple of folks, and I'll readily admit that I was mistaken about the nature of the OP's objection to the way Orcas work in high sec. I absolutely agree that the Orca-swap trick, especially unaffected by timers, is a problem. I'm sure it will eventually be addressed, or else it will grow to be completely game-breaking.

I suppose my misunderstanding of the Orca objection was caused by the blinding stupidity of the drone scooping suggestion. My apologies.

Yes the drone scooping idea is a stupid idea, but at least it shows what the better option is.

I would think the best idea would be to restrict orcas from carrying combat ships. The ship was designed
as a capital industrial ship not a combat carrier. Let it carry mining barges, haulers, etc.

So? Tank that Hulk you fool. Even an old shield failtank on a hulk of mine was enough to make it survive vs a gank thorax until CONCORD ****d them sideways. That's over 500 dps (assuming maxed skills) a FAIL TANK hulk can survive. In 0.5 no less.

No, things don't need to be changed. The reason drones can't be jettisoned like that is because it would make drones stupidly overpowered.

The problem with restricting orcas from carrying combat ships is that part of the reasoning for the maintenance bay is to allow the hauling of rigged ships in high sec.

Drones don't come out of a ship maintenance bay. All ships with ship maintenance bays carry and deploy assembled ships.

There is no inconsistency.

Dont have -ve sec if you want the benefits of hisec? Seems pretty obvious to me.

Oh and to the guy who said "fit a tank" you do realise this just makes you a more juicy target, you'll see plenty of pithi-b drops on the various Hulk Jihad KBs.

The problem isn't with the Orca, the problem is with Concorde having a blind spot allowing an outlaw to board a ship which would have surely been blown up if he had flown it to his victim himself.

You know, you can't fit a BS in an Orca. Still those sneaky -10 chars manage to get in to suicide BS in highsec... Rolling Eyes

I guess you better nerf alts and boarding ships in space before touching the Orca.
