Greetings, I have a couple of questions:

1. If I jump into a warp bubble will be my ship automatically decloaked?
2. Can I cloak while in a warp bubble?
3. After X amount of time after jumping thru the gate, will my cloak come off or does it stay indefiently?
4. Whats the most common way to escape a bubble if you jump into one?
5. Can only certain ships MWD/AB while cloaked, and do you do this before your cloak or while cloaked?

1. No. You will be guaranteed to stay cloaked for 30 seconds after jumping in.
2. Yes, as long as you are not within 2.5km of any other object.
3. The cloak will only last for 30 seconds, after which you will be visible.

4. If you're in a fast ship wait 20 seconds after jumping. Activate your MWD and fly back towards the gate. Cross your fingers and hope you don't get webbed/scrammed before you get in jumping range. Jump. Hope they don't have another gang on the other side. If you are in a covops ship you can use your MWD to fly away from the gate, activating your own cloak as soon as you move, and hope you get out of the bubble and warp before they decloak you.

5. You can't ACTIVATE a MWD/AB while cloaked on any ship, but you can activate your MWD/AB, then cloak, and your MWD/AB will still run for a full cycle while you are cloaked.

Forums eating my reply. The post above is slightly wrong, but otherwise fairly accurate. It's definitely not 30 seconds before you get decloaked, as that is the session change timer.

1: No.
2: Yes.
3: After 1 minute (IIRC, but there is a limit around there) you will be decloaked automatically.
4: Depends on your ship and what they have on the camp. If you're in an Interceptor and they don't have too good a camp you can usually just hit align on a planet that leads you out of the bubble, activate MWD and spam warp and you'll be out of there in no time.
If you're in a HAC or something similar you may want to burn back to gate - please be aware that just like undocking or joining a fleet you will get a session change timer, so wait in your cloak for ~25 seconds or so, then burn back to the gate with overloaded MWD and jump through. This is very hard to stop and the most common strategy for solo Sabres / Vagas if there's a gate camp.
5: Recons are the only ships that will maintain maximum speed while cloaked, but all ships will get the speed boost from the MWD / AB. Hit it before you cloak.

A clever strategy to avoid normal gatecamps is to fit a Cloak to your ship and simply:
Align -> Tap MWD -> Cloak -> Wait untill your MWD cycle is at about 3/4th or 4/5th completed -> Decloak -> Warp

If there's a bubble camp on the gate you jump in through and you're in a Recon simply find a good thing to align to that leads you straight out of bubble and then:
Align -> Overload MWD -> Tap MWD -> Cloak -> Spam warp on the selected celestial

That will get you out of most camps.

This is not precisely correct. You can, in fact, activate a MWD/AB if you do so before your cloak finishes one cycle - 5 seconds. This is generally of more use with a MWD and covops cloak-equipped ship. It goes something like this:

1) Uncloak by double-clicking in space in a direction you want to travel. You can also use the "align" command, but this is generally not the best thing to do escaping a gate camp, particularly if all celestial objects are in one direction. I recommend moving in a random direction away from the gate, away from any potential tacklers/decloakers.

2) Cloak immediately when your speed indicator starts to move.

4) Immediately activate your MWD.

5) Wait until you are out of the warp disruption field and begin to slow down. Warp to your desired destination.

In the 2 years I've flown covops and recons, I've never been de-cloaked using this method. I've even gotten through camps of 50 hostiles with multiple large bubbles anchored on the gate I jumped into. That said, I've come very close to being decloaked several times. In those situations, there was just a normal dictor bubble and a relatively small camp, but with 1 or more good interceptor pilots.

thank you for all your responses, VERY VERY helpful. Yesterday was my first time experiencing a gate camp and a bubble so I panicked. Sad part about it was a had an MWD and Cloak on my kestrel, but I totally drew a blank lol. Next time i'll remain call. Many thanks again :)

Picking up this one as nobody seemed to have mentioned it yet:

If you get pulled out of warp by a bubble (e.g. when warping to a gate), the person that deployed the bubble will usually have dropped a jetcan sitting right at the point where you will drop out of warp, this jetcan will decloak you.

My recent travels through 0.0 space indicate that this is common practice, most of the bubbles that have a ganksquad next to them have this jetcan in order to decloak ships equipped with cov ops cloak.

As far as I can remember this has been ruled an exploit a while ago, it doesnt seem to stop people using it though.

The best way to get around this is making bookmarks on grid for every single gate in 0.0 you might use so you can check the gate prior to warping to 0.

If you get decloaked by a jetcan inside the bubble, I'd suggest petitioning for exploit if you lost your ship.

Jetcans are not considered an exploit from what I'm hearing - petitions on this are being dismissed according to those I've heard about.

The 30s cloak after jumping is a good benchmark - you're guaranteed at least 30s, but it's usually longer and can be up to a minute.......I wouldn't wait much longer than 30s to be safe though.

This is NOT an explot. Otherwise the number of POS is wh space that have a bubble and cans to trap and declosk you on warp from nearest object would all be pettitned.

AS far as Im aware can dropping is only considered an exploit when done to "lag" a system.

I may be totaly wrong, but we have had several kills whilst not logged in, when our "lagre warp bubble and cans" have declocked and trap someone long enough for the POS to lock and then tackle them

hmmmm sometime ago (years) we lived in bwf and FOE used to warp in and snipe on the gate.we anchored cans on all theire warpin spots and they petitioned us.ccp removed them and told us the use of cans as a tactical weapon is not legal.

Well, as I'm not 100% sure about the jetcan thing either I petitioned it to get clarification.

I'll post the result here as soon as I have it, as posting of GM messages is prohibited I'll just say "yes it is exploit / no it isnt", that should be ok with the forum rules I think.

Humm, dont know what to say then. I would say about Half the POS in WH space have warp bubbles and cans at key "warp from points" practicaly the same as what you just said was petitionable

Good luck, I did the same. Their stance on it is confusing, to say the least.

One GM will tell you it isn't, one GM will tell you it is and a 3rd GM will tell you it's decided on a case to case basis (this is the explanation I got).

Hmm, did you get any senior GM to say something about it?

No, yes, yes - 30 sec, cloak/haul butt/fight, no one can mwd/ab cloaked.

Had petitioned cans a month back, cause CVA and pets where trying to get a SB gang of ours by spamming cans around a gate (we were tossing bombs at their camp). Got told by GMs that up to 6 cans are allowable, any more than that it's an exploit.

CVA does not use these tactics. It is possible that other residents may have done this but we don't encourage such tactics.

Please remember that 75% of the people in Providence (if not more) are not CVA...

??????

Why would CVA NOT do a valid tactic, when appropriate?
