From reading that it basically seems like a very large browser you have to install on your PC, all it mentions is getting you online fast and all web apps working perfectly and getting you your email fast, not sure its an OS as more of a very large browser

so its by google and like chrome it will have a small print saying they own anything you make for it,

they will most likley fit it with tracking software to target you with better adverts and the other crap

no way in hell i will be using it

This tbh. As awesome as it is to see a competitor to Micro$oft, I really don't expect this to be more than an advanced browser with some other features (such as targeted adverts). Also, I really don't trust Google not to sell my personal info off to various people (such as the UK police state government).

TBH, a while back i liked google. And then Absolutely. Every. Damn. Website had to add some layer of calls to Google which lag the whole frickin website up, and send some of your precious cookies to the bakery and in return you get shafted with advert after advert.

Hell last week i googled a completely innocent phrase and my virus alarm went off because the first website in the list was infected and was trying to throw some form of Trojan/Worm at me through the form of googles cache. A report later and the website was removed until the issue fixed, but still **** like that shouldn't happen.

It's gonna have to be an incredible operating system if it's going up against Windows 7. And I don't even mean "can play DirectX 10 games" good, but "open files telepathically whilst bringing you to orgasm" good. Anyway, if I wanted simple I'd get a mac. Wink

You mean a 'simple' FreeBSD with a different kernel and an adanved UI on top? :)

Google OS will most logically be a Linux variation anyway.

Well, it is only aimed at Netbooks, and not desktop computing.

Is it just me that thinks seeing adverts for stuff that I might actually want to buy is a good idea?

It's not like you HAVE to buy things....

There is a need for a shrink wrapped OS that can give consumers a media home computer that does not need endless tweaking.

Its gravy for us geeks to have another OS to mess about with but the average consumer is fed up with Windows that ineviatably slows down over time as a silt of programs, settings, hard disk fragmentation makes it slower.

Its like having a flatscreen TV that one days gives you a message: 'Now you get black & white because you need patch X328293892992 and latest driver Z993934.

Surely it's like flat screen TV that after 3 months, the frame rate drops by 1 frame every week thereafter, until you get to 18fps and have to purge and reinstall the firmware?

If thats the case this will be an utter failure at worst and have a nitch following at best. Why would I want this OS when the one that is already on my mobile computer can do the above and about 1000x more?
