Kind of got burnt out my Eve (back in 2005; but I'm still floating around)Not overly a fan of mmorpg as, I'm just idle. I've played all my xcom/ufo games. Conquered the world in the total war series and finaly going back to Shadow of the horned rat and dark omen for good memories.

I've always enjoyed StarWars, the last game I played was Xwing v Tie Fighter, was hoping you chaps could advise me what are the top 5 StarWars games for the PC (google was great, but don't trust any of them chaps!)

The Jedi knight series were a great series for Jedi players. I've played Star wars: Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy and they are both very good games. Same along with the Kotor game (i've only played the first one). If you have an Xbox try out Republic commando, which is a very good Rainbow six like game for clones.

I've never liked Star wars empire at war (which is an RTS) because it was unpollished, buggy and over all lacking.

The last decent star wars games I played were x-wing alliance(space sim), jedi knight/jedi knight 2(fps/3rd person with saber) and star wars empire at war(strategy/rts-has a lots of mods). These are all good games in their respective genre, especially if you like star wars.

EDIT: Yes, KOTOR is a good rpg series. KOTOR 2 was published unfinished, but there is an ongoing effort to finish it. It has progressed and is still being developed, but the project is still unfinished years after it started. I can confirm, that to really enjoy empire at war in the long term, you will need to mod it.

EDIT2: can't remember the names correctly Embarassed

Star wars galaxies is an MMo, you are thinking of Star Wars: Empire at war

When it comes to Star Wars I guess it's considered a major offense not to mention the Knights of the Old Republic series. Even if they are RPGs Very Happy

Well, I believe X-Wing Alliance is probably the latest SW space shooter out there, even though it's like, dunno, 10 years old? (well, Rogue Squadron is out ofc but that never came close to XWING or TIE)

OMG, I rock, it was released in 1999, just checked.

Hmph, I didn't know about this

List of SW games

Well, from that list I would recommend:
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed (the only reason I bought an XBOX 360, serious saberfight-filled circumstances Laughing)
Star Wars: Dark Forces
Star Wars: Jedi Knight
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
Star Wars Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith
Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (OMFG)
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II The Sith Lords (OMFG 2.0)
Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (video game) (YEAH)

I would *NOT* recommend (though others may very well have a different opinion):
Star Wars: Battlefront series (mindless killing)
Star Wars: Force Commander (some serious ****e, though it would worth a try if you ever wanted a techno version of the famous SW intro music - ridiculous)
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds (nah)

Stuff that look cool, feel cool, but somehow fail to deliver:
Star Wars: Empire at War
Star Wars: Rebel Assault (well, it was cool back then)
Star Wars: Rebel Assault II: The Hidden Empire (same as above)
Star Wars: Republic Commando series (despite being a serious SW fan I failed to find any enjoyment in these games)
Star Wars: Rogue Squadron (wasn't nearly as good as XWING and TIE FIGHTER)

I've also got the feeling that something is missing. There's an awesome strategy SW that I liked very much. Let me look it up.

Oh yeah, Star Wars: Rebellion. It had an alternative title (Supremacy) that's why I didn't recognize it earlier.
That game, in my opinion, rocked. It had some flaws but the overall feel was incredibly SW-ish. It's a strategy game.

One more thing: both KOTOR games can be played in 16:10, though you need some small mods.

Well....top 4 Star Wars games, in no particular order:

- KotOR
- KotOR II (Sith Lords)
- Jedi Knight II (Outcast)
- Jedi Knight III (Academy)

Get some mods for the first two, replay them as dark/light and male/female. As for the JK series they are a lot of fun though Outcast takes a while to get started. Play them thru once, then play thru a second time with some force power/lightsaber console cheats. Force Gripping storm troopers (lvl 3) and dropping them from great heights *never* gets boring. Twisted Evil

If I had to recommend a fifth, The Force Unleashed is *okay*. Dunno if there's a PC version but the 360 one plays well enough, looks good and sounds great. Just ignore the story and get force lightning levelled up Cool

Hm. Well. Star-Wars X-wing is the true classic for space sim. But Tie Fighter is the best of the best after X-Wing. :)

KOTOR is a fine game too.

@Kyanzes

You've got a duplicate there:

SW: Jedi Knight is the same as Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight.

StarWars Empire at War and the expansion were good (Mods make EAW uber fun Very Happy)

Kotor 1 and 2 (IMO both of these seemed a bit rushed still kick ass games tho)

StarWars Battle Front- Hope they come out with a Battle Front 3

Edit: Force Unleashed is uber fun on the Wii

I'll grant the second was definitely so...had many bugs and large parts of the game simply left out. The first however was polished till it gleamed, then buffed some more. BioWare don't make half-arsed games.

Some of the non-PC games are also worth looking up, there are decent PC emulators & ROMs available online for all of them. You will need a gamepad to get the most out of them though.

Dark forces on the N64 was pretty good, (download the excellent Goldeneye while you're at it.)

The 'Super Star Wars' series of games on the Super Nintendo (Super Famicom) were bloody brilliant at the time and are still worth a play today.

Also, I should mention that you need the original game cartridges to legally download ROMs.....Wink

Old games, they're the future.

I liked Galactic battlegrounds a lot more than Empire at war, it didn't have the space battles but the variety of ground units was better and you could play both movie eras so it was a much more complete game for me.

Basebuilding is simple and mostly painless unlike many other RTS's. Also, LAN play is absolutely hilarious. My friend and I got about 10 minutes into the game before re realized that we couldn't see the other person anywhere on the map, then we also figured out that we were, in fact, controlling the SAME BASE.

SW Battlefront was a fun game and I will always like force commander since it is the only RTS SW I have realy liked.

I advise you to stay well away from SW galaxies.
