Thousands of years ago, brave capsuliers came through the EVE gate with wonder and expectation. After those brave souls weathered and survived the EVE gate more and more came with the promise of a new life. Then one day the gate collapsed and that placental link to the motherland was severed. Thousands of years passed and humans have grown and forgotten about Earth, unaware that they descended from only one single planet.

Question is what has happened to Earth???

I think that the devs should should, after they are done with WiSVery Happy should create a contest about finding earth with clues and information that could be traded on the market and make a story with cinamatics that tell us what happened to it. Now your probably asking "how do you get to earth without the EVE gate" well in the story another gate could form or people from earth could have come with technology allowing them to jump back with ease. The devs could decide the fate of earth and if it has been destroyed, or taken over by another alien race or is it in tact???

just a thotVery Happy

pod tech was created after Empires were created...

which was after the colonists got cut off....

which was after they went thru the EVE gate...

also most i think would agree...going home or fighting the Terrans would be the subject of an EVE movie

id suspect the reason for fighting would be that they find us to be too much a threat but uncontrolable...

Then maybe Eve: Starcraft would be a better name for the expansion...

you guys are soo silly.

Obviously, back on Earth, people are becoming fatter and sloth like hunchbacks on their computers, controlling the ships via a program installed on a local machine that requires an operating system to do anything useful.

Eventually, these people will become so fat, they will actually resemble 'Eggs' (or PODs if you like).

Thats what is happening on Earth

Wrong. Pod technology wasn't invented until thousands of years after the EVE gate collapsed.

It's a total wildcard. After the EVE gate collapse the civilisation collapsed and a lot of the technology was lost over several millenia (IIRC some 20k years passed after the collapse). The Earth side of the galaxy wasn't in a good shape either, that's why a lot of people chose to migrate to the EVE systems.

Thus Earth ships could be super advanced Enterprise-look alikes or steam powered contraptions firing crossbow bolts.

Fact is, who needs Earth? The existing background already offers so many possibilities, I think you don't need to add something that so far has carefully been written out of the equation.

Earth is a dream.

Anyway, the Eve gate collapse would not have destroyed Earth as it lay some 310 light years away. Obviously there is thriving civilization much, much closer to this side of the Eve gate. So we don't know the current state of civilization back home.

Recent years have brought about an increase in terrorism-related activites, as well as counter-terrorism 'wars'.

The world economy is suffering at the moment, in particular banks and the housing market are in dire straits. Financially, most developed countries are facing the worst recession since the WWII.

Everyone is beginning to realise that global warming is no longer just a myth.

In sports, Cristiano Ronaldo is linked with a move to Real Madrid. Australia have been knocked out of the TwentyTwenty Cricket in the opening stages.

More news at 10.

Earth is little more than a creation myth.

If they ever open up the EVE gate again, I really like to see the old earth civilization as one big graveyard with only some ghouls and space primitives left. Just like civilization in EVE went down the drain, the whole earth empire (or whatever) went down, just they got the worse part of it.

Maybe get some history on what happened to the EVE gate in. I entertain the idea that the gate was intentionally collapsed to stop a expeditionary force from taking over EVE from earthside when the new colonies refused to pay taxes to the earth conglomerates. History repeats, just the results get more and more disastrous. Wink

I think that the Eve gate was collapsed intentionally by the people back on Earth.

What they did was say to a load of useless types, (the likes of management consultants, hairdressers and telephone sanitisers) "you go through the gate and set up some colonies, and we'll be along later".

Then they collapsed it.

So that would mean that everyone back on Earth is dead from unsanitary telephones?

Back on track, what if back on Earth, and the reason for the gate collapse is that there was a massive alien invasion. Destroying the gates was their first strike attack, splitting us in two and preventing anyone on this side from knowing. Then a couple years down the road we reopen the gate and kick some alien ass, freeing our enslaved brethren.

Also, on the topic of global warming, I grabbed this from my post on another forum.

You want strong evidence that we are causing global warming?

http://www2.heartland.org/apps/images/imgPics/Figure%201.JPG

From this graph it is quite clear that over the last 400,000 years temperature is very closely related to CO2 concentration. Note that the highest the CO2 concentration has ever reached in that time is about 300 parts per million.

http://www.earth-policy.org/Indicators/CO2/2008_CO2%20Concentration.GIF

And this graph shows that over the last 200 years (since the industrial revolution) the CO2 concentration has risen to almost 390 ppm. This is about 30% more than any other time in the last 400,000 years. Now going back to the first graph, if the temperature follows the same pattern there will be about an 8 degree rise in global temperatures over the next century, even ignoring further CO2 production. Now, I don't really see how you can claim this is anything but our fault.

Was it not the Gallente that came from Earth through the EVE gate. Then the Federation split and the Caldari State was Born as part of the Federation and eventually the left in a revolution.

The Ammarrians were always here along with the Minmatar.

That being said the fact that the Gallente were of Earth french origin, The poeples of Earth Destroyed the stargate simply so they French won't come back (why does everyone hate the french anyway. They have good cheese, good wine, and a great way to make love)

So most races never had anything to do with earth, and if they did well can you imagine what would happen

Amaarians would enslave them and force religion down there throats

Minmatars would buy up all the duct tape and Sun Glasses on the market, causing millions of engineers to commit suicide

Caldari's would immediatley go to the nation created on a capitalist society and realize they elected a socialist and have no capital or corporate identity and kill them

Gallente could not understand why we all just couldn't get along and try to negotiate peace in the middle east. After all are we not all children of the stars. would be there mantra

Thus causing earth to create another gate to get the hell away form these lunatics.

I remember something along those lines being in an eve fiction a while ago too. Perhaps it's been retcon'd in to oblivion?

Of course, time based language substitution is an interesting thing. Talonac through many itterations could of once been Terran. Sleeper might have been Seperatist. Empires tend to rise and fall. But that's all silly.

Wrong. We all came from Earth. After the gate collapsed the colonies all pretty much died off. Once we sorta got things going again is when everything started working properly. The Amarrians were first to be "reborn" from the tumult. Everyone else came along afterwards.

We're all human. This is all explained in one of the original EVE Intro movies. They should put it back.

Earth exists, but is completely irrelevant to the EVE Universe. We will never go back or make contact with them.

That is part of the beauty of the EVE setting.

The Jove never really went under, being at the opposite side of the cluster from the gate. Though they had their own nadir points in history.
