Has it been cancelled? I've been doing some google searches on it and it seems it was scheduled for 2008... We are now around half way through 2009 and they just released Apocrypha.

I'm a new player, but thought the Ambulation expansion sounded cool.

Anyway, thanks for the replies!

Search this forum rather than Google, I would suggest.

Plenty of discussion has been had on the matter believe me.
CCP's official last word, that I remember seeing, was "it will be ready when it is ready".

Full answer? Yeah, I thought so too..!

Nothing official has been announced. The dates are mostly educated guesses and rumors. When it is coming, you can be sure that CCP will make some noise about it.

There was a playable demo, that people could try at last years fanfest. Here is the image gallery and here is a CCP video about it. As you can see it has some meat on the bones already, but it still needs a lot of work before it is introduced.

We are still working on developing Walking in Stations, it has not been cancelled.

At this time there is no release date for it.

I was just about to start a new topic, but since WIS is being discussed here I'll just ask away.

Will the system requirements go up with the release of Ambulation? I know EVE is a great piece of code and scales great on a broad range of machines - heck, I can run it at medium settings on an ageing laptop that was never intended for 3d gaming. But looking at screenshots or videos, and more-over considering the new lighting technology from Geomerics that will be used makes me wonder if people will have to buy new systems just to be able to walk in stations.

Here's hoping we won't have to.

I bet it wont need that powerfull a PC. The videos of ambulation you see will more than likely be with everything on (their current, cos that will change) maximum.
I forsee ambulation being just as scaleable as space-side to be honest. Even if it isnt, you dont HAVE to leave the pod, its all optional.

Last I heard WiS was going to require Shader 3.0 to run, bearing in mind that it is an optional extra; i.e. you won't be able to walk in stations unless you have Shader 3.0 but you will be able to still run the main space bit of Eve in Shader 2.0.

Basically this means if you can run Eve with the settings turned up to maximum now you should be able to walk in stations later. If you can't then you'll be stuck in your pod, as now.

And if I can run EVE now with settings at medium, would I be able to run WIS at least on low settings?

From what I gathered from the dev, that would be a no. I wish i could find the post to link but I can't remember in what context this slipped out.

My apologies for disappointing you with no Soon™ etc.

Ambulation was an early name for the expansion, it is now known as Walking in Stations or WiS.

Can we please go back to calling it Ambulation?

Ambulation at least sounds like a real name.

Yeah, but thats been moved to December this year.

Honestly, I don't know what else they can even possibly release for the December expansion. Everything (to me) points to WiS. What else is there?

Nope, dont like that. Suggest we call it "Mincing In Stations" for I intend to mince my way past the beggers in the halls of Jita (for there will be many) looking most dapper in a top hat, monacle and cane.

Not to scare anyone and I do hope that December becomes when WiS is out but keep in mind that Sleepers are only 1 out of 4 ancient races… This means, CCP can also roll on 3 more expansion based on exploration if they want.
