Yup, the moderation is appalling. I've recently reported threads where people were responding simply with "**** off", threads where players tell other players to die in real life, etc. and not one of them gets moderated.
Meanwhile, harmless, light-hearted threads get locked by the Gestapo.
Go on then, do your worst. |

Playing devil's advocate, I'm sure there's a gigantic queue for the moderation team to sift through. Half of those items are probably someone just disagreeing with someone instead of having an actual proper excuse for reporting a post. I'm sure the obvious response someone will make to that is that they should just hire more staff. *shrug* |

In Eve, there is a function of instant messaging called block and it is such a relief and such there. Why can not EVE's forum to be no block? it would have been much nicer for everyone in all the roles in which type trolls just want to be everywhere also pirates only to be amongst pirates and carebearing with carebearing or type of civil with civil and so on. In Ambulation so talk CCP that you can choose your environment in the surrounding but why not the same thing in the forum? If the forum blocks existed as a forum thread had been completely different for everyone and those who want to see or interest. One thread had become a thousand and a thousand had become one! One for all and all for one  |

Thats a pure excuse, they wouldn't need more staff if they took a harsher stance against offenders. By letting it roll the way they do, it only encourages more people to do the same. Once you let it be known whats not acceptable, less crap gets posted, the forum community becomes self moderating in itself. I could point you to a number of forums where this is the case, the few that try to disrupt these forums are stomped on hard by the patrons of the forums, they simpley give up trying, the 'few' that don't are easy to weed out and remove by the small moderating teams. The problem with this forum is the unacceptable is more the norm, why most people just don't bother with the board, they leave it alone knowing it's a thankless task asking for a fairer place. |

There are many of us that would like to see more strict moderation.
Many people spend their lives in this forum and as such think they own it so when a topic turns up that has been posted before they believe they are entitiled to dish that person.
These people need to learn that they do not own the forum and that other people are allowed post stuff here, just cause it has been posted before does not mean it cannot be posted again and a whole new batch of people will see it for the first time every time.
I would like to see ccp bring in new rules and rude comments in posts or can i have your stuff rubbish should get a 2 week posting ban from the forums, do it 3 times and you get a life time ban, that simple |

x2. Why did they get rid of all the voluntary moderators a few years ago anyway? I guess there must have been a good reason, but it never made any sense from my perspective. The forums have gone steadily down hill since then. Effective pro-active moderation makes for a better forum, but here, it doesn't seem to go much beyond suppressing potential bad press for ccp, and beyond that just responding to what is reported. |

Trust me, these forums arn't bad at all, unless you come from fantasy forums with rainbows and unicorns. You want bad, you have to see 3rd party (unofficial) forums for planetside mmos. EVE might create alot of bloodlust and noob bashing, but the back end sense of general community is still there for the people that believe in the game. 3rd party forums are like slaughter houses for the most part, bar none mass noob bashing, and player ripping. Compared to that the EVE forums are candy land. I wouldn't worry about it so much. Every community has it's bad fish, the question is, why do you evem let those people get to you? |

No the OP is correct. This game is worst then all the MMOs I have played. So at least MxO, DDO, and LOTRO. All MMO forums have arrogance but EVE forum community takes the cake.
Being rude to the OP of a stupid idea is all fine and dandy, but EvE's forum community trashes ANY idea and any valid complaint.

Which is really pointless. If you don't like someone's idea then post a reason WHY. Don't just tell them DIAF and they are a n00b.
Be constructive with your critisism and as positive as you can.
I remember when I played DDO the mods there cracked down and would slam the ban hammer on anyone who thought they could be a trash poster.
I really wish EvE's mods did the same. Just because the game is a sandbox doesn't mean the forums have to be too. |

really?Seems to me your idea didn't interest that many people, but the one that commented was supportive. I'm sure many would disagree with it though, but you did the right thing and posted in a correct forum, didn't try to ruin the game and weren't offencive in your post. The EVE community must have been on vacation, since the thrashing of your idea is missing from the thread. I'm sure if you had posted in the general discussion forum the replies would have been more numerous and a little harsher. The nature of these forums are different, and here everyone can express their oppinion even when they don't really have a clue what they are talking about. Some just want to express their feelings on the issue instead of writing an analytic scientific essey on the matter. If you don't care what other players feel about the issue, don't post your ideas here. Posting in the features and ideas forum will filter out most of the trolls and flames, if your idea is even half decent. |

As a former director of a new player friendly corp. I helped train hundreds of new pilots in eve to do their thing, whatever it was.
I encouraged an atmosphere of helpful nurturing growth and answered tens of thousands upon thousands of questions relating to every aspect of EVE. And I met a lot of people who do the same thing every day.
Open your mind and be an intelligent, critical thinking, adult, Instead of the petulant whining brat you sound like in your opening post, and you'll get a lot more help.

Forums have gone to hell in a handbasket since CCP kicked CRC (volunteer mods) to the curb. Now it's just a small team paid to do it. Before there were a lot more of them to keep the crap posters in hand.
