ok so i was trying to fit out a prophecy and then i realise its very bad so i sell it and buy a harbi.
so to fix it i propose that ccp should-
Give the prophecy an extra turrent hardpoint and get rid of the missile launcher hardpoint because its pretty much useless.
Give the Prophecy an extra 100-200 powergrid so it will actually be able to fit the extra gun and mwd and all these other things.
The biggest change is to change the 5% bonus to armor resistances per level into a 7.5% or 10% bonus to energy weapon optimal range per level, this would make it like some of the other teir 1 BC's (ferox) and this change worked great for the apoc so it will work again for the prophecy and will make it into a great support ship for fleet fights.
Possibly also give the prophecy an extra low slot so it can fit an extra heat sink or something to make it even better.
This has probably all been said before but ccp still hasnt changed the prophecy so i thought i would try to get them to change it into a good ship again.

There is no ship that can really fit a full loadout of large dps weaponry (aside from mauraders). The powergrid problem is common for all amarr ships and is done so due to the sheer power of said weapons. Want to be uber dps, well gotta give up that bit of tank. Prophesy has a role, and it does it well. Extreme tanking, much like the drake. Prophesy bests fits as a slowboat with beams. Float around and fire long range. It works fine, I think it can load out great. |

Huh? Prophecy is my favorite ship, and never had a problem fitting one nicely enough. It also can take pretty nice punishment. At least mine does, perhaps yours was faulty.. You should send it to me for inspection, use the contracts system please |

I used to fly a Prophecy for some L3 mission work for quite a while. Someone recommended that I try the Harbinger instead. I did, and I haven't been in a Prophecy since. My prophecy is still sitting in my hangar, forgotten and lonely. Every once in a while I think I hear it crying out to me: "Don't you remember all those missions? All the fun we had? Remember that one time against that massive drone spawn? Wasn't that awesome?" Then a montage of black and white images flashes through my mind: Beam lasers hitting drones and pirate NPCs while some Frank Sinatra plays in the background. I think the Prophecy's hull even bends into a smile. And I almost decide to bring it out for a spin. Almost. Then I wake up and realize what a nightmare I just had. Flying the Prophecy is a waste of time. The Harbinger can do everything the Prophecy can do and do it better, except maybe buffer tank. It's a shame - the Prophecy looks nice. It really does. There just isn't much of a reason to fly it, unless you are looking for a slow large buffer tank with truly lousy DPS and capacitor. |

Problem of the Prophecy is that it basically tries to do what the Harbinger does. But being a tier 1 BC it naturally fails at it. Only way to really fix it without making it a different shaped Harbinger would be to give it a different role where it exceeds the abilities of the Harbinger. Same really with all tier 1 BCs. |

Actually it doesn't. Prophecy is tank, Harbinger is gank. It's just that the differences (especially PG) are too big. Harbinger has 1. One additional high-slot / uniform hardpoint 2. One additional med-slot 3. 25 TF and 200 MW more (unmodified), which is a lot. 4. Bigger drone bay 5. More base hitpoints 6. Bigger capacitor Just scratch one or two of the differences and the comparison will be a lot less unfavourable. |

Maybe it's a fail, but I fit out my proph for close range tank and spank (and mainly for PvP). I'll fly in right on top of someone's head and just get my pulses going with all armor hardeners on. Because of the proph's beaut of a tank, it takes even battleships some time to chew through - and when you have an FC that's not as experienced (and there's lots out there) you can act as quite a distraction to the fleet overall.
The two ships weren't meant to be comparable. OP's suggestions seem to say make the proph more like the harby - I disagree and think that the tanking role should be increased to act as the hardy BC sitting there in the fray adding that little bit of number to the fleet.
Don't disagree that the harby is much better for missioning though =P |

Edited by: Fistme on 07/04/2009 20:07:27 The issues extend to all the tier 1 BCs imho. Tier 2 BCs imho were introduced being too powerful overall, you can see this by simply looking at the Field Commands as well. Why fly a tech 2 BC when the tier2 is 1/4 the cost while being almost as effective.
Imho the solution is to nerf the tier2s but I don't think people are going to be too keen on such an idea :P. The more difficult but more probable way to fix the issue is to boost the tier 1s and boost the field commands(omg it's been being said for years).

The Proph is weak. I know Tier 1 BCs are weak, but the Golden Chicken is really really weak, with poor DPS, barely-adequate grid, and a dearth of mids.
I don't think we want to add another turret - the Harby is all lasergankdeath, and that's all it does, so buffing the Proph's laser output is not where we want to go if we are to maintain niche protection.
So here's some ideas... which should *not* be applied together.
1) add another high, and another launcher, not a turret. Maybe with enough grid to fit an assault launcher. Then watch people start to love the Proph for w-space exploration, with things like paired defender-loaded rocket launchers, antimissile smartbombs, probe launchers, salvager + tractor, whatever.
2) To some extent I like the concept of a mini-Apoc - adding another launcher and a turret but with no extra grid, to offer 7xFocused Mediums as a main battery but not really supporting 7 heavy without giving up low slottage to reactor controls.
2) add another low *or* another mid - not both. I like the low because it's about reinforcing the niche that the Proph sits in - but I'm worried it might make an active armor tank better than a Myrm, which is an issue, and I am not a good enough EFT warrior to answer that myself. A mid makes a heavy tackler role more feasible. In fact, a fourth mid makes some roles possible that are not viable with three (e.g. arch/hacking), while a seventh low slot allows the Proph to do the same things it does now a little bit better. |
