My problem is that i don't want to buy one of the super expensive faction ships off a contract

So i figure that id try to find a faction BPC instead of ruining my standing getting LP for one so my question is, which level of complex (in pirate faction's territory) would i find a BPC in the loot or dropped by a structure?

and if possible be specific as to what level plex id find frig, cruiser, or BS BPCs

They're random drops from faction rats. And like all random drops, you're more likely to get 100 units of crappy faction ammo dozens of times than find one faction ship BPC.

... but you'll still need to spend the ISK on the materials needed to build one. Also, by the time you actually run across a faction ship BPC, you'll have invested enough time to have purchased many faction ships having earned income doing something more productive with your time (i.e. opportunity cost). You're actually losing LOTS of money by trying to find a faction BPC yourself.

Oh, and 800 mil for a faction BS doesn't qualify as super-expensive when you can easily make 30-40 mil ISK/hour running L4's or some similar activity. The lower level mission give you similar levels of relative income to be able to afford smaller faction ships.

In my experience, faction ship BPC's are extremely rare. I've killed a ton of faction/overseer spawns etc without ever getting one.

The closest I ever got was a 100 run BPC for a minmatar shuttle(this was an actual plex drop, yeah).

These BPCs are very rare. I've never got one ship bpc ratting in the belts but I got 2 frigate bpcs in static plexes in a year though. If you don't mind ratting and killing faction BS spawns for several years in 0.0 then go for it. Very Happy

I got 2 Dramiel BPC's from the 5th Tier Overseer (last/third area) in the static DED Deadspace Complex (Angel Creo-Corp) 2/10 level within 2 months of each other.

This was before the expansion and since then it seems that the Overseer loot drops have been nerfed so if you're lucky you might get one. You'll probably be looking quite a while now for one.

I have heard about some DED Agents (Agents in space) that give Faction BPC's as a reward for mission completion. I believe they are located by jump gates in a few 0.5 sec systems.

Yup, I used to get about 3-4 Daredevil bpcs a day just going through a bunch of low-level serp plexs in high sec. But they nerfed that and I think bpcs only drop in 6/10 plexs and above.

Just buy one tbh, a lot easier. :P

I had a dramiel bpc from a static 2/10 a few weeks ago. Cant remember if it was just before or just after apoc patch though

It used to be that battleship bpc's spawned in 6/10 (and up?) DED complexes.

I think 2/10 is the minimum for frigate bpc's and no idea for cruiser's. I've mostly done 3/10 and a few 4/10's but I'm a noob so haven't had that much personal experience.

I've only spent a couple of months plexing but from what I have seen and read this is the case. A lot of the information is quite outdated sadly and extends way back to the times of static DED complexes.

I've found plenty of the basic cosmic unknown plexes and a few 3/10 and 4/10's too. I don't recall seeing any 1/10 or 2/10's? I should be more diligent with my logging.

There's too many people probing at the moment in my opinion and things get contested frequently, I prefer low sec plexing for this reason. I guess I could do wormholes but my other in game commitments mean it's actually less cost effective to go and get stuck there for days at a time.

1-3/10 frig loot
4-6/10 cruiser loot
7-10/10 bs loot

allso faction spawns in belts might drop bpc but thats rare

best way to get a faction ship bpc is to run missions for the faction and buy it from LP store.

By the time you've done a few complexes you'll probably have enough ISK to buy one anyway.
You're more likely to get a Faction ship from the profits of trying to find a BPC than actually getting the BPC itself.
The best Faction ship BPC I found in months of exploring in hisec was a Worm BPC (frigate). I am yet to find a Faction ship BPC in 0.0, but have found Faction BPCs for other stuff like control towers.

To give you an idea of how rare pirate bp are:

In the last 6 months....
- ive run 20-30 plexs a week( excluding ladar and gravs)
- ive killed 5-20 faction rats( excluding overseers) a week

I have never gotten a BP. If i spent the same amount of time mission running or purely belt chain ratting i could of made enough in this time to buy 2 nightmares. If i spent the time mission running for CN i could of made enough to buy 2 nightmares and a CNR lol.

Faction loot hunting isnt really profitable nor does it save you money. Its kind of like stopping by the gas station every day and picking up a scratch off ticket. Usually you lose, sometimes you break even, and on a rare occassion you get a nice payout.

I have obtained exactly one BPC, for a faction frigate (which looks awfully nice in my hangar Smile ). That was from a combat (probably 3/10) plex in hisec. But I don't do exploration full-time, so possibly someone who does would be able to get more than that...

I'm sure he's fine at math. It's that common sense and rational thinking thing that's hard to come by these days.

But in all honesty, running some 4s and buying the ship is much more practical and reasonable. But if you find that BPC, good on ya.

Didn't you know that all minerals you mine yourself are FREE???

/end sarcasm

If his main source of income is lvl 3 missions or he may just make more isk/hour mining, depending on how his mining skills are. Besides, it always feels like less isk if you do it yourself. You don't see your wallet go up and up then suddenly you're broke again with only a shiny new ship to show for it. Instead you sit there broke the whole time, then see a shiny new ship. It's all about the mental satisfaction of "I mined the minerals for this ship, I made it!"

I have been doing exploration in low-sec systems for months. In that time I have only come across two BPCs: One for a Dark Blood Medium Control Tower, and one for a Dark Blood Medium Beam Laser Battery. Seems that the BPC drops are quite rare.

Go earn the LPs to get a BPC from a Pirate Faction corp ...

Who knows - you might find you enjoy the fun of 0.0 and figuring out the 'guerilla' tactics to reduce the number of times you get blown up by others :) ... You'll also be earning more isk per mission compared to empire by a large amount. Use an implant-free jumpclone and fully insured T1 ships and minimise yr potential losses.

I am playing for approximtely 6 months, and once had drop of Vigilant's BPC in a belt in 0.2 system. Mined minerals myself, and manufactured it also mysels :-) Cost of work and minerals was 8 mil isk, and sold it for 210 mil.
