hi friends, cat here

i was wondering about a certain situation i have come across and that is that one of my friends does something i do not approve of (guess what it is, lol)

so imagine you find out one of your friends in eve buys isk, ganks noobs or whatever it is that you disapprove of. what would you do?

my friend it turns out is actually an alternate character of a pirate! i have had good chats with this person and seems like a really nice guy but he is a pirate. should i stop talking to him or maybe try to wean him off piracy with my pirate rehabillitation service?

thanks your comments are welcome

A friend of mine was going to buy ISK once. I just explained how it was self-defeating, and he was quickly convinced to reconsider.

So, I'd say convince them of the (perceived) error of their ways, though I cannot tell you how to convince a pirate (or anyone else) that they are doing anything wrong. But, then, you're the pirate rehabilitator, not me.

Why would being a pirate be considered in any way as being wrong ?

You have two options as I see it:

1) Accept the fact that your friend's in-game bad behavior is part of a role-playing experience, and as doesn't necessarily say anything about the real person behind the keyboard. I'm assuming here, of course, that you realize that you should be friends with the person behind the keyboard, and not with the in-game character.

2) Decide that the person behind the keyboard IS engaging in behavior you find unacceptable outside the game (i.e. buying ISK - presumably from illegal services and NOT through plexes, which are legal and OK). In that case, you should let them know you find their behavior unacceptable, and that unless they change you can no longer be their friend. Obviously you should be prepared to go through with your decision. If they don't change, then they don't value your friendship, and you should not be their friend.

Just give him a bunch of Mindflood. That should solve your problem.

I often wonder how many cva pilots have pirate alt chars YARRRR!! only talk to his none pirate char if it bothers you that much. i guess you could try your stop having fun rehabilitation service, more likely to quit eve than quit pirating tbh.

Think of it as roleplayed shizophrenia....so he isn't an evil pirate but a insane man to be pitied...

Best way: Dont make friends, ever.

This, if it means you will ever put trust into them. Hell, I've been betrayed in-game plenty of times by RL friends who would die for me IRL.

To answer the OP seriously, there's nothing wrong with talking to anyone, be they pirates, war targets, etc. Plenty of notorious pirates chat in the eve uni channel and offer help - it's fine to talk to them. Just make sure you keep your perspective or you'll find yourself on the shiny side of the tachylon laser.

I think it's rather ironic considering cat is 99% likely the alt of a pirate csm candidate

I would just go ahead and shove it in there. Use cream cheese instead of lube, its much more fun. You can even get relatives to join in too.....

OH you said pirate....

Hi Cat, just curious as to why you think these pirates need rehabilitating?

this made me cry so hard

i remember a true story of a mining drone travelling back in time for some reasons trying to find out if hes human or a dancer, cos someones uploaded him a rickroll which he simply could not compute, on and on asking himself is this his father ? asking him "Are you stranger to love ?" so he rob a bank by accident.

Remember what that brave drone tries to tell u. Forgive your friend and after u podded him tell him that travelling back in time is just the quick and easy way to the dark side.oh sorry i can't talk anymore, my tears say more than words

I would infiltrate his corp, work my way up to get roles, get an alt in the corp and give him access to the hangers, rob the corp, then pod the guy. Sell all the items for isk, buy another character and then try to make another "Friend".

How dare he do something you don't approve of! That'll show him!
