This is not right. Take this for example. I buy a BPO for a billion isk. I make 100m isk per item I make. You say I would have to then make 10 to make that back. I make 8, I sell the BPO researched for 1.2 billion isk. I made 800m from the items I built. I thusly have made 1 billion isk profit, building only 8, when in your terms you would have to make 10 to break even, and 20 to make that profit.
BPOs are only an expense when you can't resell them for what you paid for them, and even then it's just depreciation. A BPO sitting in your hangar doing nothing, is still going to be worth what you paid for it, probably more since it's researched, so it can't be an expense unless it wears out, which they don't.
My point is that time that the isk was in the BPO needs to be valued.
We have general interest rate set my Ebank and a few other groups that offer interest. That rate sets the minimum price of time, if you aren't beating that then you should be in those investments.
Its the idea of money market accounts vs savings accounts, if the saving account isn't making as much as the MM account then you should be moving your money over to take advantage of the higher rate.
In the end most of use understand the point, I just wished more of the general builders understood it.
Its the same as why research a Capital BPO to 5 or 6 when 2 is all you need.
