Hey, I was just curious about where the actual US database is state wise in the US? I did a tracert to www.eveonline.com and it brought me to california.. I am assuming that they are in different locations but I might be wrong..
Just curious as to what my latency is doing, I tend to get less then 50 on the east coast databases yet when they are on the west coast I can get up to 400 :O |

They also have dedicated routing proxies in various places.
But the main cluster is indeed in London. |

Eve is actually happening. All of our inputs are broadcast by Battersea Power Station to the Eve cluster, which is very far away. The result is then bounced back and transmitted through the internets to your screen. It's all real. |

And this is where you did wrong. The website has nothing to do with Tranquility. If you want to ping TQ, you gotta use 87.237.38.200 Still, this won't give you any useful results either, because *certain* isps prioritize ping packages to look better..and the ping won't actually be answered by the server either, but by one of the loadbalancers or whatever sits in front of it. |

Actually, unless it has changed, the website is hosted on TQ. or something like that... |

Very unlikely. However, it might be logical to have them geographically close, since the account controls need to "see" your account data and the forums need to "see" your character names and portraits (+ skills etc. for the characters page). This would be the real reason why the forums and other (former) myeve services need to be taken down while the database is being serviced. |

There are several big data centers, though they tend not to be in London, IIRC there are a few dotted around, with a lot of the city institutions using one near Maidenhead.

For those of you who remember Demon as it was in Cliffie's days (I was subscriber 665 - unlucky or what?) before he sold it, Redbus was his baby then he got sued and other stuff happened. The building does have a history of power problems though and I suspect CCP have been on the receiving end of a couple of those. Still it's better than when CCP used Clueless & Witless as hosts |
